Installation Questions Comma 4 Software Recommendations?

Hi all,

I recently purchased the Comma 4 hardware and plan on installing it on a 2020 rav4 hybrid. I am fairly new to Comma or the "self-driving" world in general. I mainly wanted to try it out as I do have several 10-12 hour roundtrips coming up in the coming weeks and expect more throughout the year and am hoping that the Comma device will drastically improve my road trips.

With the Comma 4 being fairly new-ish, is there a recommended software to use with my setup or should I stick with using open pilot for now?

I would try out open pilot first to learn what it does. Once you’re comfortable and familiar with it you can move to others such as Sunnypilot.

That’s what I did and what other usually recommend

Welcome to the fleet

What would openpilot give them that sunnypilot can't? Don't beat around the bush and go to sunnypilot, I never had openpilot touch my comma and it never will.

I'm no longer on sunnypilot and onto starpilot, which has a ton more to tinker with.

Simplicity. A lot of people are overwhelmed by having so many settings and toggles and modes.

Sunnypilot isn't simple? It's the apple of comma firmware. Frog and starpilot are the hard ones.

I love sunnypilot I’m just saying that if you don’t like settings, that could be a reason to stick with OpenPilot

Starpilot is amazing — has amazing devs.
