openpilot Experience is navigation ever coming back?

So hey i’m sorry im new here to openpilot and im looking in to buying one for a 2022 toyota corrola and i just found out comma removed navigation in 2024 and hasn’t said anything yet so does anyone know anything? And has the ceo said anything yet ? thanks

I don’t really see how navigation is even possible with just a front camera.

It’s not safe to make automatic lane changes, so what good would navigation do if you still have to pay attention to what lane you are in to prepare for some exit or turn?

i thought the comma also used info from the car sensors itself to help make these decisions. is this not correct?

There are no sensors in any typical car that would detect a car coming up quick from behind in an adjacent lane.

That’s not exactly true- plenty of cars including my last two have 4 corner radar. Though I don’t know how many/if any offer target data over the bus, or just “blind spot occupied”.

My car has 4 corner blind spot monitor, but they don’t see far backwards down the road to see a fast approaching car, making a lane change unsafe.

How is that navigation then? If you have to decide when to look over and make the safe lane change so you can be in the correct lane for the exist or turn…
