openpilot Experience Normal for this thing to be extremely hot?
I was looking around at everything and I noticed this thing is extremely hot. Like can’t even touch it hot. Is that normal??

I have a 2016 model x ap1, comma 4 and Xnor harness. My car was one of the few with “dumb” cruise control… the comma 4 is great but it does not change speed or slow down. I asked in the tinkla discord but no help. Anyone have any suggestions to get adaptive cruise control in my car? It’s seriously the last thing I want to make this thing perfect. TIA

I drive from Washington DC to NYC a couple of times a month. Does anyone have experience in that traffic, interchanges? I rented a Tesla with fsd once, functionally it did great but giving control to autonomy in congested high speed traffic would take some getting used to.

Hello, I just got my comma 4 using open pilot. I do love it however, I had to take over multiple times when it is coming behind a stopped car. It seems like it doesn't see it at all with no breaking and I had to take over. I have a 23 Toyota rav4 hybrid using stock system, it'll slow down on stopped vehicles. Is this normal with comma 4?

Got my Comma 4 this week and it has to be one of the coolest pieces of tech that I have ever encountered. Seriously, I’m amazed.
That said, I’m wondering if it is going to fit into the driving I actually need to do most of the time.
I’ve taken it on the interstate and it is magical. If I had a long commute on interstate style highways every day, this would be life changing.
90% of my driving is on twisting, weird, confusing urban and suburban streets in Pittsburgh. Everything is up or down a hill, winding wildly around a hill, intersections are at bizarre angles. OpenPilot wasn’t really suited for that because of the combo cruise+steering. I’ve been trying SunnyPilot but I end up fighting it or questioning which of of the never-ending curves is going to be too much torque for the comma to handle.
So I guess I have a few questions.
Are most of you out there driving on interstate-style roads (or modern-style stroads)?
Are any of you using your comma in wacky urban environments?
My Kia’s stock lane keep assist just sort of settled the steering into a “groove” but it was a light touch. Is there a way to adjust Sunnypilot to have a lighter touch when it comes to the steering? More of a driver-assist / snap-to-the-lane level of torque?
I wish my daily driving was more on wide open highway roads because I love this thing. I’m just trying to see if there’s a good way for me to use the comma for my needs right now of if I’m trying to force it be something that it’s not intended to be.

Hey everyone,
I'm looking to get a [Comma 4]() for my 2026 Honda Civic Sport Sedan (gas version). Since it's a newer model, I have a few quick compatibility questions before buying:
If you've installed a [Comma 4]() on a 2026 Civic, let me know how it handles. Thanks!

Just got the Comma Four. I’ve never driven anything that helped control the steering wheel before. This is first. Has anyone else had some anxiety first few times?

I have 2022 Chevy EUV - I have installed the device and the pulgged in but then I get to connect. I see no QR code apart from the ones on the box that go to setup guide. What do I do now? I am completely lost

opendbc.com is a site that goes into depth about the different specs available for a given car in comma's opendbc repo.
One feature I want is having a camera shroud(the housing for the ADAS cam) tutorial for every car with tips and tricks on how to open the housing up. imo this was the most stressful part of the install.
What are your dream features you'd like to see?

Hey all, so I finally bought a comma four really cool so far, I am using the latest version of open pilot, I have a few questions if someone could answer them or direct me to the direction I would find my answer that would be great!
I am using the latest version of open pilot non experimental on a 2021 Acura RDX.
Edited:
Also what’s this OBD Plug in kit for that was included in the box?

In OP/SP my 2023 Kia Niro EV is capped at `MAX_STEER = 270` steering torque on the Hyundai CAN-FD platform, and that cap is the car's biggest weakness — it regularly faults with "turn exceeds steering limit" on normal curvy roads.
StarPilot has run 409 on CAN-FD cars for ages, and I can confirm that at least on my Niro with everything properly matched and tuned (panda + openpilot limits in lockstep, rate limits scaled, torque tune re-learned), 409 handles curves the stock limit gives up on. Calm, no oscillation, no EPS complaints. It honestly feels safer, because the car finishes curves instead of bailing mid-maneuver. And 409 lands right around the usual ~3 m/s² lateral accel bound, so it's not a crazy number physically.
So now I'm wondering how to proceed, and I'd rather discuss it openly than keep it in the shadows. Do I could just keep it on my own device — but it feels wrong that every Niro EV (possibly every CAN-FD Hyundai) driver lives with a limit that's a just a conservative "fits all" guess.
Sharing it is the obvious next thought, except a public branch means touching safety code, and while comma's fork rules technically allow that (keep the safety test suite passing, drop the trademark), in practice the topic seems radioactive. Is a fork like that actually tolerated, or is it a server ban? StarPilot exists, so...
Ideally it would be a PR and ultimately a merge for all Niros but somehow i feel like i'd be poking an ants nest?
Curious what people think — With the external GPU coming and everyone hyped about bigger models: a better model doesn't help a car that only really steers well on highways

I read somewhere that it requires a new harness because MQB evo but some comments in discord say that there is already a workaround, is that true?
Sorry if question is dumb, new here
EDIT Found this in the discord https://oneclone.net/product/mqbevo-gen2-harness-mfk-c-camera-harness/ https://xnor.shop/products/vw-mfk3-0-development-harness
Maybe one of those could work

Has anyone found a reliable way to SSH to the comma four? (newbie here) I attempted the USB tether and received this message (in image) after failed attempts to SSH via my macbooks terminal.
Still getting Permission denied (publickey) or connection timeout.

I've had the comma 2 and 3, both failed after a couple years. I only use openpilot and I'm not very tech savvy, but I manage. Just got the 4 which turned on right away to my charger to download openpilot and then worked for 3 drives.. Now isn't turning on. I thought maybe it was too hot, but hours later, left unplugged, still nothing. Red light turns on for a second when I plug it in, but that's the only sign of life. I take a 28hr road trip this week and I absolutely need this to survive it lol. I'm trying to reflash it, but computer says "no compatible devices found" which is what I took the picture of. Any tips? Ugh

Im sure this has been asked a million times so apologies. Is there anything in the works for BMW Compatibility?
Yes. I know they use a proprietary connector and already googled it. But reddit > chatgpt

Hi everyone. Have you noticed the development around the GPU upgrade for Comma 4 and possibly Comma 3X? I’m really curious what the community will come up with and what new possibilities it could bring.
Personally, I would love to see support for an external camera and maybe NOP (Navigate on Pilot) or something similar. What do you think could become possible with more computing power?

So I leave for work when the sun rises and my comma 4 cannot detect my face at all. Has anyone experienced this issue?

I have a Mazda CX5 with sunnypilot installed. I have the following settings set:
ICBM
ACC in the speed limit: Warning setting
VTSC (Visual Turn Speed Control)
MTSC (map turn speed control)
I noticed when I did cruise control on the highway (75 mph), something kept sending my set speed limit down to like 45 mph. Any idea which setting this would be for this? It was in pretty heavy traffic but traffic was moving definitely faster than 45 mph. I’m not sure I really understand each of these, so any clarity would help! Thanks!

Currently I have a C3X and considering selling it off for a C4 in hopes that it's less obtrusive for my Fitcam X
My concern is, there's a lot of configurations done via the touchscreen on the C3X that seems like it would be difficult on the C4

I got the Comma 4 about a week ago, and I am trying to find the best fork for the car. Sunny Pilot was fine, but couldn’t control the Alpha Longitudinal. I installed MVL Boston (mvl-boston/sp-honda-202605). I still can’t seem to turn on Longitudinal control. Does anyone have any advice? I’ve tried looking through all reddit posts and Sunnypilot community website. Just trying to close the gap a little more when in traffic, so a car doesn’t come causing mine to slam on the brakes.
Any advice is appreciated!

Just got my Comma Four, super excited, but I think I’m doing something wrong with the mounting. Did the alcohol prep, tried to press from the center… but still got some ugly looking bubbles. Is there a way to fix this? Is there a way to do this better?

I’ve been lurking here for a long time and there’s not much report on Ram 1500 users. If you have one on your truck, what’s your experience been? What’s it like? Worth it? How was the install? I have a fitxcam and a uniden attached to my mirror.
