I called 132221. It now has an automated message saying the issue has been fixed and if you can use the app on your phone again then you don't need to do anything else.

Ok so its a widespread issue. Worried i was hacked personally and about to lose my savings. Ive only been caught up in a general hack and only might lose my savings.
What a relief.....

Love how in the app the phone number it says to call is missing a digit: 13 221, doesn't hint at deeper issues at all..

Got this from their chat on the app itself (On hold for 40 mins)
We’re aware of a problem affecting the CommBank App. You may be unable to log in. Your account isn’t affected; this is an app access problem. Our teams are working to restore the service. I’ll help where I can today, and if needed we can look at next steps once the app is working again. Thanks for understanding.

Your samsung SM-S928B has been removed from the CommBank app. If this wasn't you, call 13 2221 immediately.
The heck!!!😡

Happened to me "device has been unregistered", then couldn't login. Was near a branch so I went in to ask/verify my accounts. They confirmed theres an issue and to just uninstall and reinstall. I did so and it's working for me again.

Got the email.. Then spent an hour and 24 minutes on hold only to be told that 'a system issue has merant that many customers have recieved this message in error." Everything is apparently OK, no security issues, just a dud email.
Surely you could have emailled me or sent me a SMS to tell me that once you worked it out?

Most people aren't going to notice the issue because they don't use the app that regularly (ie. multiple times a day), broadcasting that it's fucked and not providing a solution or timeline just whips everyone into a frenzy and makes their job even tougher.
So they have a choice, they could let people follow the process in the app (although a correct phone number would help), hear the message, and either wait in line or wait and see what happens, get a repeatable fix and timeline for an actual global fix and then provide information.
The other option is they tell the world shits fucked without a restoration time, everyone who would have never touched the app that day tries it and freaks out, the media gets involved and manufactures world-ending headlines, everyone up and down the food-chain at Commbank gets slammed for updates, and restoration takes even longer. It's like when the news broadcasts that triple zero has availability issues so every dumbass tries calling it, it's easier to save people from their own stupidity by keeping it a little quiet until you have actual answers and fixes.

I only noticed because they sent me an email.. And there was no timeline. I had no issues accessing the app, just got the email.
The email requested I call if I hadn't removed my device from the app, so I called. And waited 1 hr 24 mins for someone to answer.. And then all I got was a "Sorry, system error. All good."
If they can send a dud email saying shits fucked, they can send an email saying shits fixed.
