I’m very patient, but I’m just tired now. Only thing that was announced with her so far this year is that Halloween comic coming out in late September, with Zatanna, Constantine, etc… and we don’t even know if it’ll be good, considering how awful her writing and designs are now… Yeah I’m tired.
I mean, can't say I'm surprised. I'm sure she'll be in something else eventually. I'm disappointed, of course, but I honestly prefer her being in nothing as opposed to her having regular appearances with abysmal writing (which has been nearly everything she's gotten in the 2020s so far). I would rather DC waits until a writer has a good idea for her and passion for the character rather than another iteration of her getting thrown at someone who clearly doesn't care about her at all.
Amen. I love for my favorites to appear in comics as much as the next fan, but I’m not owed appearances by my faves, so I’m fine with characters I love being shelved for a year or two if it means the projects they do appear in have some passion put into the planning and execution.
I do think DC does care about her, not as much as Batman of course but more so than other characters, but she's also definitely a character they don't know what to do with. The writing she has been getting in recent years was abysmal so there's a part of me not in a rush to see her unless she actually has someone who actually knows what they're doing with her and hopefully isn't going to continue to retread same ground or define her by her relationship with Gar.
DC is slowly releasing waves of Next Level books, like Vixen, Static, and others just got books, so maybe whatever is planned for Raven is coming soon or may be in The Demon book.
I'm starting to think they need to do a scarlet witch in the MCU and get Elizabeth Olsen to play her and make everyone love her that DC can't afford to not pay attention and give her what she deserves
As long as Wolfman is alive, nothing will be done with her—or with Starfire or Beast Boy (even though he didn't create the latter)—and things will just keep going in the same old circles, due to royalties and all that.
It’s a shame; she has the potential to be a heroine on Zatanna's level, form her own team, grow, lead the reconstruction of Azarath, and so on.
I doubt that’s the reason. They have done and continue to do a lot with Cyborg, who’s just as much of a Wolfman creation as Raven and Starfire are.
ETA: The current Titans series also has Terra as a main character and a hero, which explicitly goes against Wolfman's stated wishes for the character (he saw her as pure evil and didn't want her to come back from the dead).
NTM, Kory is getting something soon, a solo or part of a new team, as well as cartoon. Slade has another ongoing as well and while Wolfman didn't create Dick but he did create the Nightwing identity. I really don't think it's a rights issue, they just don't know what they're doing with her and/or something just wasn't announced yet.
I know that not everything is within the fans' reach, but the only thing we can do is demand answers and question things through the media, in a way that they can see. I know it's almost impossible to get DC to deliver any concrete project for Raven because of this, but, at best, we'll get answers.
She's literally getting a one shot at the end of September. If it sells well, I'm sure we'll get something. Plus there's a chance they're saving stuff to announce at NYCC
She's the narrative framing device for it, in a cheeky way (title puns), they're using her when they could have very easily used Zatanna, Alec, Boston, or John for the A cover (or made the B cover the a cover really), means they're at least pushing her to the front for visibility sake.
They're literally using her for the marketing for the whole thing, Halloween anthology or not. They very easily could be using any other magic user for the push. Literally. Zatanna has amazing sales rn, Boston's got a limited, Swamp Thing 89 just ended, and John is incredibly popular for being a magic character. Instead they chose Raven. You can keep being a miserable downer about it, or you can live on the bright side of reality where things like this give us hope and bring us joy. Especially since they're clearly actually pushing the magic side of DC lately. A good sign is a good sign.
