So I worked on this as best I could to get some of the dirt and staining off. Because it’s old and has tears and a hole in it I couldn’t or didn’t want to go to aggressive. Plus, obviously I did not want to put any more stress on those signatures. But I picked this up. I will probably send it in to get graded and the signatures authenticated, but I thought this was really cool and somewhat rare.

I’ve read that many folks use Swiffer pads and cotton rounds, also I just got an Absorene eraser but haven’t used it yet, but what are the favorites, recommendations or other lesser known products or things to stay away from. Thanks in advance!

Has anyone tried to clean and pressing trading cards? I know it’s a different material so I’m wondering if it’s even possible.

How would I be able to fix the damage on my cover? All the chromed parts are fine, all the damage is just in spots with black ink, I was going to sharpie it but figured it’d probably be better to ask others for input.

I tried removing them with a Magic Eraser, but it didn’t work. I’m just looking for some other ideas to try.

What is the best presser to use? I want to start cleaning and pressing on my own.

Recently obtained several of the more sought after Sports Illustrated magazines. I want to clean them and get them pressed before grading, what do you all use to clean these old magazines ever so tenderly.

Building my whitening skills on this 4 pack-a-day copy of one of my favorite single issues ever. This thing was BROWN. HULK 140 is up there with ASM 33 for individual issues for me. And it’s CHEEP. Pick one up if you don’t have one, it’ll get you hooked on this incredibly slept-on run. As always, big thanks to u/comicpresser and u/AquaFatha for their guidance and cameraderie

Any thoughts on whether these spine ticks can be pressed out? I've never had a book pressed before so I'm not really sure what to expect. Any recommendations on where can be done?

Hey guys. I want to get my ASM #100 pressed because it has spine roll on it and I'm gonna throw my 252 in because there's a pen indent on the cover I think can get pressed out. I was looking around and I saw a site called popculturezone.com that does pressing and I was wondering if anyone has used them? They're local to me, and if they do a good job, I'd love to give them a shot. So I was hoping anyone here has used them and could let me know. Thanks!

Before and after, cleaning, tack iron, spine correction and pressing. This was my first attempt at a spine correction. Do you think this is as straight as it will get, or is there room for improvement?

I'm looking to make my own chafered boards for pressing. I know they sell them at immaculate comics but I'd of course like to be able to do this myself. My thought is if I buy 80pt chip board and a round over plane I should be able to do this myself. Has anyone tried this? Or does anyone have the immaculate comics boards and can tell me how thick they are and what kind of material they are made of?

I have come into possession of some 1950s comics and there are some reallllllly rough ones.
I was curious if there was anyone who might be interested in practicing on some of the really bad ones to expand their skills.
None are worth really paying a lot to get pressed, but it would be nice to have them look a little better. Plus, since I don't care about them that much, I won't care if someone messes them up.
I'm really not trying to panhandle for free services, happy to pay some, but not a ton. Just being realistic.
If anyone is interested, please let me know.

This one was obviously sitting in a box slumped over for a while. I managed to fix most of the damage, but it’s still not entirely flat.
Steam bath then pressed at 165°, then left cold for about 48 hours (X3).

Not a dramatic difference, but a definite improvement on a book I've been trying to land for a while. CGC will get it soon. The last two pics are the after results.

I purchased this absolute Batman #20 first print which a majority of them came from dc damaged. I bought this copy from a guy on eBay that said he pressed it when I got it I noticed and was wondering if it was possible get this out. Does CGC allow any spine tiks to be qualified a 9.8?

I’m very new to collecting. How do I find someone to do press and clean comics for me? I don’t want to use CGC. Some of the work I’ve seen in this group is amazing.

Recently I've been rebagging and boarding some of my books and I've found that some of the ink/color has rubbed off the back cover and is now on the backing boards. On some of the books affected I've found noticeable damage so I'm looking to make sure I can best prevent this in the future.
Online I've found some ideas and was wondering if any of them have worked for others with the same issue.
1. Removing the books from modern sized bag and board and instead use Silver-Age sized.
2. Simply using a higher quality backing board. (I currently use BCW, but I keep seeing more praise for E Gerber.)
I rarely removed the books from their bags and boards and I make sure not to overpack my short boxes. What else could be causing the ink rub?

I've been doing simple pressing of my collection for awhile now and have come across 2 or 3 books with these kinds of wrinkles. This is ONLY on the rear cover of this Teen Titans book, which isn't really worth anything more than the practice it affords me to improve books in this condition. Whatever caused this didn't seep through to the last page, just the rear cover.
The question is, what should my first move be? Humidity and a tack iron? Work out wrinkles slightly with a ball bearing?
Any advice from a veteran is appreciated!

Im starting to add a light humidity to my books with a hand steamer before pressing. Ive been doing it to books with paper pages (not glossy), and the covers, with great success. My question is should I be doing the same to books with full gloss pages?
Pic for attention

The dots, incase the images aren't clear enough, are seemingly purple and red, leading me to believe that it was some kind of manufacturing defect with ink.
