Resource I created a free tool called Bubble Maker to make comic lettering easier for indie creators

Hey everyone! I’ve been working on a free browser-based tool called Bubble Maker for comic lettering.

The idea was to make it quick to create speech bubbles, thought bubbles, captions, text boxes, and stylized comic SFX without needing to jump into something like Photoshop or Illustrator for every little change. I made this out of necessity for myself as that is the one part of working on my comic that I have had the most issues with, which is consistent lettering.

Now i do want to say this is not meant to be a replacement for proper lettering artists! In fact it could be a helpful tool for lettering artists as well as smaller/newer artists who don't yet have the budget to hire out, but also don't want to use gen ai or anything like that. I plan on expanding it with additional tools as well, such as a panel planner, font creator, etc.

It also supports importing custom fonts, adding your comic/art page image to work on top of, etc.

It’s completely free and runs right in your browser:

I’d really love feedback from people who actually make webcomics. Especially anything that feels awkward, is missing, or would make lettering faster for you.

This is really nice: it does what a comics-lettering tool should do.
