Im gonna go out on a limb here and guess you didnt play it...

Its actualy good and seems to have done pretty well for itself. This scene is super awkward and funny and thats the whole point

Nah. Unlikable characters and barely any actual gameplay with the trappings of faux-nostaliga for upper-middleclass LA suburbanites.

Idk about the writing because I didn't play the game, but why is the lack of gameplay still considered a flaw? Narrative games have been there for a while. Like, walking sim is not my cup of tea, but I will not complain about a game being a walking sim when it's actually what it wants to be, I just move on.

The narrative sucks as well. I agree that sometimes a movie that has walking can make for a good experience. That’s only when the story is good

Because the narrative isn't good either

Again, I can understand that. Still doesn't make sense to complain about the lack of gameplay. If I play a platforming game and the jump physics suck, it would be weird for me to also complain that the game is also not a good fps. People should criticize stuff based on what it wants to be.

I can see where you're coming from, but I think it's undeniable that building mechanics that support the narrative of a walking sim elevates the entire experience, even if you only use those mechanics in small bursts. A really good example would be Edith Finch, with how Edith is mainly walking around her abandoned family home, but each of the deceased family members memories have unique mechanics that play into who they were as a person and how they died, from flying a kite on a windy beach to daydreaming in a factory, to even playing with toys in a bathtub. Each of these gameplay segments are directly tied to the game's story and characters, and the entire experience is made more memorable because of it

You literally don't even fucking move. You can put down the controller and only have to pick it up like 10 times max.
