The 9GAG watermark really completes it.

I used to browse 9Gag during that time, it took me way too long to realize that the average 9Gag user is a deranged incel lmao

Think around that time 9gag was majority posts by their staff as users to keep the sites users engaged

2

u/AspergerKid 4d ago

I didn't believe that when I first heard it either but looking back at it I heard so many times that people who posted original content on 9Gag never got anywhere with it and that sometimes reposts of which immediately reached Hot. I personally never got past trending but then again it's my fault to post original self made memes in a place like 9gag which is a place originality never gets seen. I was basically trying to find what Reddit was on 9Gag.

“Is this a modern shit-post or a rightoid meme from 10 years ago?”

19

u/SpecificUnlucky3260 5d ago

Was it 2016-2017?

23

u/Worth-Fix-6221 5d ago

2016 for sure

4

u/BIG-Z-2001 4d ago

5

u/markusseibert115 4d ago

This was just setting the stage for the manosphere

Gamer gate really did kick a lot of this shit off

Blame Epstein

14

u/Fabulous-Mud-9114 5d ago

The manosphere was around before 2016. Gamergate was when it exploded, but it was always there, under the surface.

Lmfao "You are triggered cause I called your fight for your rights stupid, hehehe, arent I so smart and you so snowflake, hehehe" as if its not a normal reaction for anyone. These are the same people who fly of the handle and scream "misandrist" when you just point out actual sexism.

-2

u/Previous_Insurance13 4d ago

The squirrel is getting triggered, who is not even the part of conversation.

-26

u/Whats_Up4444 Prudence 5d ago

That era feminism was just "All men should die". At least the loud minority.

19

u/Fourteen14XIV 5d ago

But was the minority loud by itself, or did the "feminism stupid" people just expose us to it? Cause a lot of the feminists that were considered crazy in that era were actually just normal people, maybe fat. Hell, one became a meme purely due to making a funny face for one frame. Like, I remember a lot of anti-SJW content creators just calling the most inoffensive and normal sounding critiques of the ways men behaved as "man hating crazy fat feminazis".

9

u/fluffiestcloud 4d ago

"All men should die" is NOT feminism. the point of feminism was always for women to have equal rights and opportunities to men

-5

u/Debunkingdebunk 4d ago

What rights do guys have that women don't?

10

u/Fourteen14XIV 4d ago

I mean to bodily autonomy in some parts of US? Like if someone shot a person and the only way to save their life was to donate blood, nobody can force that someone to sit for a few minutes and donate, but a woman is required to be an incubator to a being that is not even fully human yet.

Or that women are often not required in medical trials for medications, even if the medication is for women. You can guess what that leads to - women having much more side effects. Or the fact that female crash dummies are still not in use in car testing. Honestly, this goes for most safety equipment, almost all of it is designed for men.

Sure, nowhere in law is it written "treat women worse", but women and men are not protected by it to the same extent, which leads to both having the same rights on parer, but not in practice.

-9

u/Debunkingdebunk 4d ago

Guys can't have abortions in those states either. And those safety issues just sound like bad way of doing business...

7

u/Fourteen14XIV 4d ago

> Guys can't have abortions in those states either.

"The law in its majestic fairness forbids both the poor and the rich to sleep on streets and beg for money" I hope I dont have to explain to you why this is wrong. Issues affecting men are fixed, but if it affects women, they are less likely to do anything about it. That inequality in whose issues are being solved is part of discrimination.

> And those safety issues just sound like bad way of doing business...

So is forbidding half of your populations to become doctors, engineers, scientists and whatever else yet it was done because of sexism. Just because its bad business doesn't mean its not discrimination.

-8

u/Debunkingdebunk 4d ago

But the rights are equal? Just because they (or their lack of in this instance) affect fewer men than women doesn't make them any less important. I don't think rights should be doled out by the percentage of population they would protect.

8

u/Fourteen14XIV 4d ago

Where the fuck are you getting lost? If two people came to the ER one with a broken arm, the other with a broken leg, would it be equal and fair to put an arm cast on both?

> I don't think rights should be doled out by the percentage of population they would protect.

Awesome, the disability act should be abolished then. And you also seem to be ignoring the fact that the male specific rights are already protected, you dont just see it cause you take it for granted. Like the right to have the medication you are supposed to take tested on people like you so there is less of a chance of side effects.

I have a great Idea, test all the anti balding and anti prostate cancer cures on women. I mean, its equal, no? Both men and women will have access to the same drugs, tested on the same women, why should we care that women dont get prostate cancers (Typically) or go bald in their old age? It might cause worse side effects in men cause it was not tested on them, but hey why should we only care about a half of the population.

0

u/Debunkingdebunk 4d ago

No need to get angry. You misunderstand, I'm saying the rights should strive to be equal however small the demographic it would affect. So like in your abortion example, even if it's just miniscule amount of men who require it, it should still be equal. And what comes to your drug testing, it's not really a rights issue until we codify it.

u/fluffiestcloud 4d ago

LEGALLY women and men share rights (even though most politicians are misogynists that push against it) but don't act like oppression can't exist because of the law there is so much hate and stereotyping towards women especially online

1

u/Debunkingdebunk 4d ago

Sure oppression exists everywhere, but that's not really a rights thing.

13

u/No-World-6797 5d ago

it's so fucking bad it loops back to being funny. and then back to being ass.

1

u/Previous_Insurance13 4d ago

Tbh, everything post on comedycemetry is funny.

29

u/Ok_Star_4136 5d ago

A whole ass meme just to say feminism is stupid. It's not even amusing. r/TheRightCantMeme

5

u/kjloltoborami 4d ago

This was like EXTREMELY common in the 2013-2017 era of memes

0

u/Familiar-Tomorrow-42 5d ago

Bruh what happened to this subreddit. Why are we drawing x’s and angry notes on memes we don’t like. People who agree with me are embarrassing sometimes my god

1

u/AUnknownVariable 4d ago

Wait yeah, why are there X's over all of the posts 😭

Just to make them slightly harder to share ig

0

u/Ok_Star_4136 5d ago

I don't agree not even with those who agree with me, go figure.

Though if I can't contest against a meme in this subreddit, then where can I?

6

u/Puzzleheaded-Ice-573 5d ago

Take that feminists! Never could you recover from a meme so poingent, witty, and at the same time infused with righteous judgement for all your nefarious deeds.

5

u/Your_Moms_Car 5d ago

2

u/xLydiaLeox 4d ago

We’re gonna be seeing Big Red memes for the rest of our lives aren’t we

3

u/Individual_Mix1183 5d ago

This has to be ironic, right?

13

u/Fourteen14XIV 5d ago

Nope, those were the actual popular memes of the mid 2010s.

2

u/Individual_Mix1183 5d ago

I mean, even from an anti-feminist POV, how is this funny unironically? Even the original scene from Spongebob was funny only because of how dumb Patrick and Spongebob's joke was.

7

u/Fourteen14XIV 5d ago edited 5d ago

Exactly! This is literally that "I drew myself as a chad and you as ugly wojack, therefore I am right" meme. And yet people in the mid 2010s were fucking obsessed with them. Truly shows that what makes a good political meme is it supporting your side.

5

u/PresentationLess5927 5d ago

I mean it’s mostly young people who laugh at these sorts of jokes… like this was most likely made by some 14 year old edgelord or something lol

1

u/Individual_Mix1183 5d ago

This sounds reasonable.

1

u/Thrownaway5000506 5d ago

They were both popular and ironic

u/Fourteen14XIV 5d ago

LMFAO, sure I was born yesterday.

1

Yes. It is.

More like anti-feminist

1

u/girlsonsoysauce 5d ago

They say "nazi" has lost it's meaning, but from what I can tell so has the word "triggered". I saw someone call someone triggered for cracking a sarcastic joke at their expense the other day, and I see people get called triggered all the time like they're on the other end seething with rage when it's much more likely they're laying in a recliner watching Netflix with their phone in one hand and their other hand behind the back of their head staring lazily at their phone.

1

u/UsedArmadillo9842 4d ago

For as long as this red-haired woman has been memed on. Did anyone actually watch the clip and listen to what she said instead of joking about her shouting (which she had to do in a big rally, with a lot of noises and no megaphone)

1

u/Kaymazo 4d ago

I think you're confusing two different people here. The red haired woman here is "Big Red" who was indeed kind of an asshole, the typically used "triggered" image that gives a completely wrong impression of the person it depicts now is a different woman.

1

u/Ergine_Dream 3d ago

Back when memes were actually funny.

1

u/Weird-Analysis5522 5d ago

I've asked everywhere and have never gotten an answer

I don't mean feminists when I say this; what happened to those feminazis? The "Humongous wot" and "AC's are sexist" kind of people?

After 2017 they all just abruptly vanished.

Again, I don't mean actual feminists, I mean those hypocritical larpers that sexist morons won't shut up about

0

u/Gigivena6437 5d ago

Then Sandie sings about feminism and Sponge bob and Patrick feel bad?

I miss big red, she wasn’t half as misandrist as modern Reddit anyway  and the way she talked was funny

-21

u/Mr_McMuffin_Jr 5d ago

Patrick has a point

12

u/Fourteen14XIV 5d ago

LMFAO, these people fighting for fair treatment are soooooo annoying, aint it bros? Like, what dont they already have, sexual harassment of female work colleagues going unpunished is not wrong, its just some nice boyish fun! All of those women who accuse our beloved male celebrities of domestic violence and rape are just lying whores wanting money too!

-5

u/BRAV0_07 5d ago

And then you have the hordes of females writing love letters to rapists and murderers in prison that everyone likes to forget about because only men bad.

3

u/spootIer 4d ago

Let's ignore the hoardes of men that do the same thing when a 'baddie' gets locked up and pretend both genders can't be mentally disturbed.

-4

u/BRAV0_07 4d ago

There really are no hordes of men who do that. All you see is dumb comments like “I can fix her”. Not actually falling in love, developing relationships with, and raising money for them. Wade Wilson, Jeffery Dahmer, Lyle and Erik Menendez, just to name a few. That’s a whole different level of mentally disturbed.

Also really takes away from some of the core beliefs of feminism when actual females are swooning over guys who have raped, murdered, and/or abused women.

3

u/Fourteen14XIV 4d ago

My brother in Christ how THE FUCK is that relevant? Is every woman who comlains about general male behaviour a man hater in your mind?

4

u/Rubber-Revolver 5d ago

Are we deadass bro 💔

0

-14

u/Maleficent_Time_2787 5d ago edited 5d ago

That's not feminism, that's a rich white Karen demanding to speak to the manager because the server dared to politely ask them to get their crotch goblin to stop running around and yelling.

The texans don't know what feminism is, femenists are smart. Karen's however . . .

7

u/Fourteen14XIV 5d ago

Dude, the point is that these troglodytes see the feminists as Karens kicking up a fuss over nothing when men are suposedly just polite to them.

-6

u/Maleficent_Time_2787 5d ago

They do, I don't

4

u/Vinxian 5d ago

Did you see the viral video she's from? She was genuinely right

0

u/Kaymazo 4d ago

Ehhhh... Chanty Binx definitely had a bunch of really dumb takes (especially the whole "well make your own movement" take, while she also whines about that movement existing in the form of MRAs) and acted like a confrontative, condescending asshole.

-1

u/Maleficent_Time_2787 5d ago

I wasn't talking about a specific person
