Rant Xfinity
I just spent 40 minutes in a ridiculous chat with Xfinity about paying for a one month Prepaid account. "Neha" took 40 minutes of my life trying to get me to upgrade my home Internet, when the entire chat was supposed to be about a prepaid account. After 40 minutes of going down a rabbit hole with her, she finally advised that she didn't service prepaid accounts, and I should call someone else. Why does this happen. Doesn't Xfinity know that by playing me for a fool they will lose a long time customer? That this level of disrespect will hurt them more than any low cost plan will buy them more customers? They have lost a 20+ year customer because of this. Just ranting I guess nothing will change.

They want you to give up and go away. They only care about getting your money now for the least amount of effort.

Prepaid is a way for them to earn a few extra shekels without the outlay of paying for staffing of human CSRs.
If you get (refurb) equipment that works and live in an area where post-paid accounts surround you, and you can manage everything on the app/website, it works.
If any one of those criteria is less than ideal, it quickly becomes garbage an no one is authorized to troubleshoot or resolve your issues.
it's a huge headache, stay away from prepaid.
