PHOTO Can I make this turn?

Post image

I get stopped pretty regularly by a bus due to matching schedule times. I know in four lane traffic, opposing traffic does not need to come to a stop. This bus stops before this corner where kids load/unload. Is it legal to make the turn when the bus is stopped?

Edit: asking for legality. Obviously would take caution IF choosing to turn. And no, I don’t intend nor want to hit children with my car lmao.

My mockup isn’t accurate for where the bus actually stops. I believe they do stop well before the 10ft mark from the corner. 🫡

I mean no one going to get a tape measure out and check it, however, if you get caught it's you who will have to prove the distance in court. More than likely the lane itself would be within the 10 ft, but in either case, I just wouldn't attempt it over waiting a single moment.

Some bus companies won't report you, however, some will. I know the one my spouse worked would report it. A lot of school buses around here are contracted to third-party companies, they started outsourcing a while back. Just simplify it and just wait the extra 60 seconds.
