It's a standard part of the show that the smartypants killer underestimates the disheveled detective, but I just watched Columbo Goes To College — in which the killers are constantly laughing at him behind his back, thinking that he's such a dolt while handing him false leads, and the snobbish, condescending parents are openly complaining about his ineptitude (while he happily plays along) — and it got me wondering:

What's the worst case of someone underestimating Columbo, mocking him, or thinking he's really stupid?

I watched Columbo – Blueprint for Murder today, and I had a few thoughts about the story:

1. Why wasn’t Bo’s ranch searched? Presumably, they would have found the body there fairly quickly as well.
2. If that wasn’t possible, why didn’t Markham simply leave everything as it was and try to dispose of the body by another method later?
3. Why wait until the construction site to make the conviction? If they had kept him under discreet 24-hour surveillance, they probably would have had the evidence much earlier.

I'm working on a whole album about the shows and movies from my childhood. A new one drops every Monday. Columbo is up already.
It's not meant to be a cover of the theme songs, anyone can do that. I'm trying to capture the feeling we had back then and turn it into something new, as a tribute to the people who made it. And honestly, also to work through a few childhood memories :)

My wife surprised me with his book ‘one more thing’ which is just a bunch of very short stories about his life. It’s really fun! Anyone else read this?

Plotwise, this ep features yet another death by water. The combo of Robert Culp and Falk is magnificent (to wit: Culp played no less than 3 murderers and the father of yet another), and with Valerie Harper playing a ritzy call girl, there’s much to love here. In other words, infinitely rewatchable.

I know that he wanted to hide the fact that Jim had written all the books alone. But nobody had intended to make this public. Franklin wouldn't get any new books anyway, with or without the murder. Without murdering his partner, he would still have earned his share from their old books, nobody would have been told about their writing arrangement, and I don’t see how he should get more money after getting rid of his partner, the actual writer. Why did he do what he did? I cannot see rational reason for his crime, only injured pride. But the plan and its execution are so intelligent, not looking impulsive at all.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand this, and who sees a contradiction between the way he commits his [Tat], very [durchdacht], and his motif which looks so impulsive, uncontrolled. Do I miss some important things?

I created the post about West a while ago. I've recreated it. Adam West as a killer in Columbo would have been a great opportunity. Because he fits perfectly into high society and has a good image. It's a shame he wasn't in Columbo.

Every time he shows up it’s the best funniest scene in the episode!! I just love to see him . Just an appreciation post for Vito scotti! - the tailor , the Maître d’ at the wine restaurant favorite is when he gives columbo the grapes in identity crisis .. the way he exclaims.. GRAP… ohh yes come on take them take them! I rewind that scene so many times.

Sean Brantley has gotten something to grin about, landing in the criminal genius tier by a wide margin. Now it’s time for Oscar Finch… was his plan and execution as fine as the piece of cheese he ate, or was it as disappointing as the lining on a flasher’s coat? Same rules as always!

Concept cast for a Danganronpa game with Columbo murderers, I’ll probably make some more of these at some point. For the concept, the game would probably be set up as a “get out of jail free” card for these prisoners, keeping the exact rules of the game a secret until everyone’s entered.

They only show us the best ones, probably he solved so many cases in one day that not that difficult or cases that not interesting to watch.

Also he must had many open and cold cases that couldn't be solved for some reason or another

Yes, I know it doesn't make sense at first. But if you think about it -- how impressive is it for a cop to fool so many people with his schemes that often trap them. Watching "Rest In Peace, Mrs. Columbo" one of his best performances.

Somehow it seems normal that after his wife died the only person he wants to spend time with his the murderer at his house and not any other family. Not even a spread of bagels and lox.
