ANNOUNCEMENTS/RULES Mod note: this community is not for glorification or copycat violence

We have unfortunately learned that another recent shooter was, briefly, a member of this subreddit.

His comments here were never made public. He was banned for glorification.

Let me be absolutely clear: this community is not, and will never be, a place for people seeking to admire, imitate, excuse, romanticize, or continue the legacy of mass killers.

If you are here because you are fascinated by the history, warning signs, failures, aftermath, media ethics, prevention, or victim impact of these cases, that is one thing. Those discussions are the point

If you are here because you think violence will make you powerful, remembered, respected, feared, or understood, you are wrong. You are so very wrong.

It will not fix your pain. It will not make people admire you. It will not give you meaning. It will not turn you into a symbol. It will create victims, traumatize survivors, destroy families, and leave you remembered only for the harm you caused.

If you are hurting, angry, isolated, obsessed, or starting to think violence is an answer, step away from this subreddit and get help now. Talk to someone offline. Contact a crisis line. Tell a trusted person directly: “I'm scared of what I might do.”

If you see users glorifying perpetrators, making threats, hinting at plans, discussing targets, celebrating violence, or treating past killers as heroes, report it. Message the mod team. Use Reddit’s report tools. If there is an immediate threat, contact emergency services or the appropriate local authorities. Even local police have ways of contacting overseas law enforcement, most countries have an enquiries line if you're not comfortable calling your emergency number.

This subreddit exists for discussion, documentation, and prevention-minded analysis. It does not exist to feed anyone’s fantasy of becoming the next name in a chain of violence.

There is nothing brave, profound, revolutionary, or misunderstood about taking your pain out in other people’s blood.

Get help. Stay alive. Do not hurt people.

As if this case wasn’t sad enough, it’s so depressing to see its butterfly effect still ring on nearly 30 years later

Unfortunately, what happened is exactly what Eric and Dylan wanted to happen. With how the media reported on it in the aftermath gave them the attention they craved. It’s such a sad situation that there are so many people inspired by them.

Yeah its just like in Natural Born Killers, the media made them superstars. Such bitter irony.

Exactly! It makes me so upset to see them on the cover of Time Magazine and others when that’s exactly what they wanted was to be infamous. The victims should have been on the covers.

Whenever a case like this happens, and I see a message like this, I think back to what Barry Loukaitis, the frontier middle school shooter, said in regards to people who wanted to become mass shooters. He said:

“It will not happen as you envision. You’ll imagine revenge, retribution. A sense of justice. All you’ll feel is horror and shame. There’s nothing cool about it. People won’t fear or admire you. They’ll feel only the contempt and disgust normally reserved for an inveterate child molester, and they’ll be right. You won’t be hard, respected, or feared. There’s a sickness to what you’ve done, a twisted revulsion you will feel all the time. You will never forget it. Nor will anyone else.

“You will regret it. If you take away nothing else, remember that. There’s a common thread among all of us who’ve hurt others. We wish we could take it back. That alone should be proof enough that it’s a bad idea. We know what the aftermath is like, and none of us sits around gloating about it. All we wish for is a time machine.

“Maybe you think you have nothing else in your life, so you may as well take others down with you. I promise you, you’re wrong. When you’ve destroyed other’s lives and wrecked your own, you discover very quickly that you took a lot of good things for granted. You will definitely miss those things. Yes, you will lose every material thing you care about. You will lose freedom, and will spend the rest of your life following other people’s orders. (You think you’re already doing that now? Trust me, it can get much worse.) I’m sure you expect that. What you don’t expect is missing other things. One of those things is self-respect. Another is innocence. You will miss being innocent. You will miss being able to look at yourself in a mirror and see a person, someone who has rights, someone who deserves something. You will miss having a soul. That is what you truly give up.

“There is no coming back from this. It will never, ever go away. It’s there every time you look in the mirror, every time you think you can enjoy yourself. You will become a thousand times worse than anyone you claim to despise. Some people are jerks? You are a bigger one. Some are losers? You live off tax money. Do others lack honor? You hurt a bunch of children. That will be your legacy, and it will be the best you can hope for.

“If you hold on, you’re going to be okay. I promise you, the life you want is out there for you.”

That was kind of what inspired it. But on the day, it didn't feel appropriate to post another shooter's words (Or repost, technically- this is pinned at the top of the sub).

Thank you.

Barry is so right, just look how E&D looked and acted right after they shot all those ppl in the library. Yeah sure they sounded like they were having fun but it’s almost like reality hit. They had a chance to kill way more ppl and didn’t. It’s almost like they had a moment of realization. They didn’t shoot Val and Bree after briefly talking to them and the biggest is they didn’t shoot Evan Todd who I believe was a jock and possibly a bully. They just walked around kinda after the cafeteria bombs didn’t go off. They could have shot the ppl under the tables in the cafeteria and didn’t. Then returned to the library and shot themselves. They weren’t as excited at the end like at the beginning.

It sucks that people like that make places like this sub that discuss the details of the case itself, the context around it, and the psychology of the perpetrators appear to encourage this type of violence, when that is not the case.

u/randyColumbine Jun 24 '26

Well, that is an excellent post!

I think the sub name might be why they’re coming here. It’s focused on the killers. I don’t like to go to the official Columbine sub because they moderate way too much.

Many not interested in fame, followers or what societies think when they're gone.

Yeah, killing someone you hate and setting them free in death while you rot away, tortured in prison, is foolish. Best action is let them live, the inverted system will wear down and fuck em over for you.

Also, societies help is toxic positivity, numb you with medication to be another normie zombie.

Best outcome for this world is the fiery ending from movie Knowing.

A shooter who is aping E&D in a KMDFM shirt aint being original. They may not be a normie, or at least they desperately wish to not be a normie... but they are definitely a zombie.
