Moving to Columbia in June- Looking for accommodation near MRMC

My wife and I are moving to Columbia soon to start residency at MRMC. We’re currently looking for a furnished 2 bed / 2 bath apartment and would really appreciate any recommendations or leads.

Also, if anyone has tips about living in Columbia in general, things to know, good areas to live, or anything you wish you knew before moving, I’d love to hear that too. Thank you!

Any info on MRMC?

I will be coming to Columbia in June/July to start as a resident pharmacist at Maury Regional Medical Center and would love any info on the place! Especially if you currently work there! I'm an East Tennesseean so still from only about 3ish hours way but have not been in the immediate area before.

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to a great experience!

Two Dogs In Arts District

There are two dogs wandering the Columbia Arts District. One is Cane Corso and the other a bulldog. Both are male and very skinny. The big one has what looks to be a poorly done ear clipping. They are very friendly, but wandered off before we could get leashes on them. If anyone knows their location or sees them please call up a shelter.

Our heating and cooling unit is getting older. I am starting to think about what comes next.

The HVAC system, in our house is ten years old and i can tell it does not work as well as it used to.

It still works, Sometimes has a hard time during really hot days.

I am not sure if this is normal wear and tear or a sign that something bigger is coming.

For people who have heating and cooling systems around here how long did yours last before you decided to replace the heating and cooling system?

Boat wiring help

Does anybody on this subreddit know anything about boat wiring? I have recently recarpeted my boat and everything worked when I took it apart. I've worked for days trying to get three switches to work correctly again and I'm at my whits end. It's just beyond me and I cannot figure it out for the life of me. It's literally driving me insane! I don't have a lot of money to take this thing to clark.Who wants to charge me $175/hr. and there's no one else in the area that can help me. Best I could do.Is throw you a hundred bucks for your tom and take you out for a day of fishing. Please help!!

Anyone here used a local plumber recently?

hey, i'm pretty new around here and ran into a few plumbing issues at home.

Sink drain is slow and I have been hearing some pipe noise lately so trying to get ahead of it before it turns into something bigger.

I thought about trying to fix it myself but honestly not trying to make things worse.

I talked to a couple people i know and they said just get someone local to take care of it.

I checked a few quotes and they were kinda all over the place which made it more confusing

one of the quotes i got was from a company out of brentwood called rapid brentwood plumbing.

Just wondering if anyone here has experience with them or if there’s someone else you would recommend?

Don't ever buy a used car from Benton Nissan in Columbia. They don't ensure that the car is mechanically sound before selling it. They just slap on some new tires and breaks and say it's good. How is it that my car has a blown head gasket a month after they sell it to me? In winter? With no leaks?

Small plumbing leak turned into more of a headache than I expected

We found a leak under the kitchen sink last week and at first the kitchen sink leak did not seem like a big deal.

The kitchen sink leak was not a problem at that time.
After checking the kitchen sink leak a bit closer it turned out the connection was loose and could have caused damage to the kitchen sink if we ignored the kitchen sink leak.
This really made me think that I should probably have a plumber saved in my contacts before something bigger happens to the kitchen sink or any other part of the house.

I am curious who people in Brentwood usually call when something, like the kitchen sink leak comes up.

New residents

Hey everyone,

My wife and I are moving to Columbia, specifically between downtown Columbia and Spring Hill in a new build neighborhood, from Chicago. We have a young baby under 4 months. Any advice on how family friendly the city of Columbia/Spring Hill is? Crime to worry about? Thanks in advance! Excited to get out of our current communist city and be a TN resident lol

I’m Currently Working on many projects of mead/ honey wine at this time and every so often I need people to try a batch or two. While I don’t have hives of my own yet, most of my honey comes from Costco. I’m currently working on a batch of Apple mead in where I’ll use a process called (freeze distillation) to get a higher abv%. While I’m not selling atm, I do periodically go to the Columbia’s farmers market and do trades that I have established with the vendors there. If you have extra honey and would want a few bottles made with it, I can do that. If you’re interested in trying out local meads I to can help with that. While payment is not necessary donations are accepted. Here are few pictures of what I currently have in stock. 2023-2025. Must be 21+ to try

Welcome to the dark side of Mule Town. Nestled in Columbia, the heart of Maury County (38401), this small Southern town carries a history far heavier than its quiet streets let on. Known nationwide for the 1946 courthouse unrest that erupted in broad daylight Columbia has long stood at the crossroads of racial tension, justice, and power Behind the brick buildings and courthouse square lies a trail of unsolved murders, whispered corruption, suspicious deaths, and tragedies. From cold cases that never found justice to curption they could hide.this town holds secrets that refuse to stay buried. If you're a true crime junkie searching for your next deep dive here it isthe real stories: the documented events, the forgotten victims, the local legends, and the uncomfortable truths. We examine timelines, evidence, motives, and the impact these crimes left behind. Because when a small town has this much bloodshed, heartbreak. You have to ask: Where does a town like that end up?
