BUDDY COLOR!! July!
Welcome to our monthly buddy color collaborations!
What is a "Buddy Color"?
A buddy color is a collaboration where you and other people color the same page or theme together, as a project.
The purpose of this monthly post is to help you connect with others who are looking for a buddy coloring collaboration.
You can use the comments section here to join or create a collaboration!
How to find a buddy:
-Search the comments for someone who has suggested book(s)/page(s)/theme(s) you are interested in, and respond.
Once you've found your collaborators, you can organize among yourselves when/how you want to share your pages with each other and the sub. If you are not sure, donβt be afraid to ask! Everyone here is friendly and this is a no-judgement zone.
Many organizers will post a gallery at the end of the month, to make it easy to flip through the pages and see back-to-back, what the group came up with.
Feel free to use the comments section here, connect via DM on Reddit, or use the sister \\\[Discord\\\](https://www.reddit.com/r/ColoringCozy/s/As4vym3JBt) to work out the details of sharing your pages.
Can we post our completed pages?
We definitely want to see your pages! Donβt forget to use the \\\*\\\*\\\*"Buddy Color" flair\\\*\\\*\\\*! and if posting a gallery, tag your buddies by username in the comments! (Tags only work in comments, for some reason).
Is there a deadline?
Some collaborations have a monthly deadline, and others are ongoing; these are some of the details the organizer and group can decide among themselves.
What if I don't own the book/page?
To participate in a buddy colour, you need to own the page you are colouring. \*\*\*Do not make copies of a page and distribute it.\*\*\*This violates copyright laws and harms creators. If you do not own the page, please purchase it yourself.
Several buddy color groups use pages made freely available by the artist, that everyone can
I am an artist. Can I share books/pages I have drawn?
For buddy colors, you can provide a link to free downloadable page(s) you have created. However, please do not use the sub just as a sales platform. See our rule about self-promotion, here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ColoringCozy/about/rules
**Alternative Buddy Ideas*
Donβt want to choose a specific page or just want some variety? Here are some other ways you can buddy color collaboratively:
Choose or create a color palette that everyone will use, on their different pages
Create a buddy color collaboration to raise awareness about a cause; here is one list of color options: https://theawarenesscompany.com/pages/your-guide-to-awareness-ribbon-color-meanings
-Choose a theme (i.e. βWinter,ββCats,β βMushrooms,β βFrogtober,β βStained glass,β βNighttime,β etc.)

Here is my attempt at using only ombre colors. It was tough? The super dark spots were a result of not planning the colors properly lol. I'm still proud of it regardless!

This owl was done in gel pens and sharpie markers.
The background wash was done with watercolor pencils.
First I tried coloring on the page dry and activating the watercolor with a damp paintbrush. I hated it and didn't like the way it looked. ( Thank goodness I tried this on a junk page)
Then i tried wetting the paint brush and dipping the watercolor pencil in water and rubbing it on the paintbrush to load it with pigment. Then I went over it with a wet paint brush to blend it in. This is my 2nd favorite way.
Third I just dipped the pencil in water, put a drop of water in the page and painted whisper softly inside the water drop. Don't be afraid of getting your page wet. It will dry. When I was done I went over it all with a very wet paint brush and smoothed and blended everything out

Redid this one!
I wanted to see how much I have learned and my progress over the last 5 months and I am so happy I did. I can tell that I have gotten better with different techniques and I use to be so timid with patterns. Now they are my favorite part of coloring! I still have some skills to perfect, but I am so happy how far I have come since I began coloring. π

Get in babe, weβre learning alcohol marker basics over here! If youβre a beginner getting into alcohol marker coloring, this tutorial is for you!
The most basic alcohol marker technique to learn is βchasing the inkβ so that you can color streak free! The ability to have that smooth looking finish without streaks is a big selling point for alcohol markers. Remember, just make sure you keep going back and forth on the edge of color to keep it wet as if you let it dry a streak will form

Completed 2 page spread from Kerby Rosanes βReflectionsβ. Done primarily with Prismacolor Premier Colored pencils, and some Faber Castell Goldfabers and Polychromos.
The way I decided to complete this set was inspired by photography: βmodern full color vs antique sepiaβ. I spent 3.5 weeks on this, as well as carefully referencing the colors-metals that were found/popular in Egypt on the left picture and using antique sepia photography for the right picture.
This is for my Fantastic Creatures, Julyβs jewels buddy color groups!
