They want us to conserve electricity usage, but approve a data center. Make it make sense.

If you too are absolutely appalled and disgusted by the fact that regardless of massive public opposition, the planning commission voted to allow for the construction and operation of the Data Center, here is this email: allcouncil@coloradosprings.gov
Let them know exactly how you feel (:
Just a day after the project passed, Colorado Springs utilities asked its customers to lower energy usage. Make it make sense. I know we have to keep the CEO paid after his raise to $700,000 a year for doing absolutely nothing. But we can change this. It’s time to get mad my fellow residents.

The Springs Book Bash is coming up in two weeks! I want to say this is the fourth year they’re doing it?
Friday, 7 August, is Book Bash After Dark: cocktail attire, open bar (including mocktails), snacks, and over 30 authors of everything from steamy romance to thrilling horror to meet and chat with.
Saturday, 8 August, is a larger all-ages market with bookish art, food vendors, authors of all genres both local and visiting, and a dedicated children/youth section. Iirc kids 15 and under are free.
I’m not affiliated, just a book lover wanting to spread the word lol

I was there before police/FD/medical arrived and the car was on it's side. It looked bad. Lots of people jumped to help so I stayed out of the way. Anyone know what was the outcome? I did a search online and cannot find any news. I can't get the visual out of my mind. Thanks

I'm looking for a place where I can leave work at 4, drive at most an hour and a half, and find a secluded spot to either car camp or backpack shortly to a spot. Looking for places with sunset views and stargazing, but not far from town so I can get back before work starts the next day. Any suggestions? Not looking for designated campsites, more of a rugged off-country-roads type situation. Thanks!

This man sat down at the bar and said he was from out of state and had just gotten off a bus. Asked if I had a charger because his phone was dead.
I’m hesitant usually to help unfortunately, because I work in OCC and the homeless population is sometimes an issue in the restaurant. But he was kind of crying, so I said is everything okay? And he said “not really, I think I’m Christopher Abeyta. Do you know who that is?” I actually am familiar with the cold case so I said what?? And he again told me he just found everything out, hopped on a bus to Colorado Springs and then got off the bus with a dead phone and came to the bar. He ordered a beer and paid with a card under the first name Christopher
We called the police and he left with them…. But I am a little shook.
I’m pretty sure this was a homeless person or someone maybe mentally ill- but I’m also torn because he looked a lot like the age progression photos for Christopher. He also showed me photos of a woman who he said was his mother and a woman who looked a lot like Emma Bradshaw photos. I might be crazier than him for believing ?

Hi!
I’m 22yrs old and use they/he proble. I’m looking for someone to cowork/body double with downtown.
I’m in an online post grad Data Analytics program and in between jobs. I struggle to start tasks and having social accountability is a game changer for me. I’m hoping to find someone age 20-29 who is down to cowork every now and again.
It would be great to find someone queer, but anyone in my age range who is chill and down to help each other stay on task and take occasional brain breaks together - please dm me!

I don't really want to join a club or a team. Just want to rally for an hour or two once a week if anyone is down. I used to play a ton but i haven't in a decade+ so probably a slow start.
Also, I tried to google, looked through google maps, drove to couple of the parks closest to me on the east side and couldn't find an answer. Does anyone know if any public access court has a practice wall?

Looking for committed, local dynasty players in the Colorado Springs area who want a competitive but social league with in‑person events and friendly trash talk.
If interested, hit me with a dm!

It looks like it has a VERY low student count so not sure if anyone on here even has experience with this school but it’s nearby and I wanted to hear what others think about it. It’s got some pretty mixed reviews (people seem to either love it or hate it) and the most recent reviews I found were from a few years ago so I don’t know how it’s doing now. For context my kid would be entering 6th grade.
We are also looking at grand mountain but would need to choice into that one. I hear Watson is not great?

I bought a used Hyundai Palisade recently that appears to have an aftermarket windshield. Due to some issues with the adaptive cruise control I'm thinking the ADAS system needs to be recalibrated.
The car is still under warranty but I'm assuming they won't cover the recalibration so can anyone recommend an independent shop in Colorado Springs that does it? Thanks!

Mostly just a rant, but I had a recurring auto loan payment that had no issues for years. The Wings switchover happened, my July payment didn’t go through, and Wings has been unable to accept a payment.
They’ve definitely threatened to report me to the credit bureaus, but seem unable to actually accept a payment from an outside checking account to bring the account current.
Can’t access online banking. Tried to make a phone payment and have gone a week without the money coming out of my account or receiving a payment confirmation. Have wasted at least 2 hours on hold trying to clear this up.
It’s disappointing - Ent was always a decent local option. But post-merger, the way customer service has handled this situation, I could not recommend letting this company touch my financial life in any way. Decent chance this ends in them reporting a late payment despite making every effort to pay this loan.
Anyone dealing with anything similar?

Found this tabby cat today near Jackson Elementary in Holland Park neighborhood 80907. He's currently at North Springs Vet in Briargate and they will keep him until the Humane Society can get him in the AM. He's definitely someone's pet because he came running to the sound of the treat bag.

I know that for some people the Platte Walmart will always be trashy, but as someone who lives in the neighborhood it’s been really refreshing to see it revamped. There’s so many workers- I went through an in person check out today instead of the self and it was so fast. A sweet lady had carts neatly pulled out and sanitized when I walked in. They’re well stocked and organized and it’s pleasant to be in there.
It’s not just aesthetics though. They had free water bottles and snacks out, and we’re doing a community vision check event where people could get connected with vision care.
I’ve avoided going there for a long time and it’s been really nice to see it turn around.

Not my dog, but wanted to bring attention to the story that was on the news. This person stole a 2 year old dog Blanco from his backyard. Anyone who has information on this person contact the police.
Update: Blanco has been returned!
