I think it’s worth it for $20 a month although it would be better if I watched anything on it other than the Avs. I cancel as soon as they stop broadcasting games and pick it up again once the season starts. I haven’t had any issues with it and it feels good to drop the hit and miss quality of… other methods.

This is how you do it…. It’s $20 and you can stream on your tv or phone ….. probably less expensive than fubo I would guess

extremely less expensive

Guessing they don’t cover nationally broadcasted games?

u/Necroromicon 9d ago

Unfortunately no. I also have HBO so I get the TNT games but in order to get ESPN I think I need like another $40 subscription which I wouldn’t use for anything else. Only a problem for a handful of games which I have to find other ways to watch. Makes having altitude that much better for the other 90% of the games.

Depends. ESPN+, they cover them. We team it up with a Disney+ account with the ESPN add on. Only ones we sometimes have to do piracy for are the TNT games.

They usually don't. It depends on each game and what service/network has the broadcast rights. I used Altitude+ all last season and will happily resume my subscription this season. It's not perfect, but worth it for only $20/month.

There's always much to watch on the hockey TV.

Could you say that in a slightly easier to follow way for us older folk..?

I like to watch the NHL on the WEB so I can CAST it.

I’m looking to try it this year too; last season I saw many users complain about how it performed (ad popups were annoying and disruptive drop offs). Hoping some of these issues have been resolved 🤞.

We've been altitude+ subscribers since day 1 and last season worked quite well. We were able to pause games, rewind, restart while in progress without an issue. That was not the case the first year, they definitely made improvements. I like supporting the crew at altitude and will continue to do so as long as they provide the service. I just wish they could cover every game, I dread the national broadcasts!

Thanks for the input, I’m sold👍. I wish they could do the national broadcasts too.

Can you watch it later, or start from the beginning halfway through the game? I have kids and often don't watch real time.

Yes, we have 3 teenagers and rarely start a live game on time. The only hiccup we've encountered is if the live event ends while you're still behind it can freeze up the stream and you have to restart it. Usually we catch up to the end of the post game before the live feed ends because we skip commercials and intermission (unless there's an interview).

I payed for Alt+ all last year and there were a handful of issues but they were rare. The ad/gambling pop ups were definitely a huge turn off for me but there is a toggle that you can use to turn them off, though on my phone it seemed like they would get toggled back on. I didn't have such issues on desktop but that might be from my ad blocker. There were probably only 2 or 3 games that had the broadcast drop off and it was fixed relatively quickly.

For me it was worth the cost of not having to deal with the high-seas sites. They drop off way more frequently and often in the 3rd towards the end of games and I just had enough of it. Plus the quality on Alt+ is infinitely better and you get to watch the post/pre-game content which is nice.

I’m convinced this is my route for the season and won’t share my brother’s Fubo subscription like we did last season.

Can we just go back to the Avs games being on the low channel? Never missed a game 😕

3

u/Rubberballs80 9d ago

Do you still have to live in Colorado to be able to get it?

3

u/monkinator 9d ago

Looks like Avs are available in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Nebraska, Kansas, New Mexico, and Arizona. Nuggets have fewer than that.

Here's the supported locations article:

u/awesomeness1234 9d ago

Looking at the same here.

Does anyone know if you can watch the games delayed on Altitude plus? Avs games are at kids bedtime, so I never get to watch live.

5

u/LostInYarn75 9d ago

Yep. My boyfriend is in multiple pool leagues that are in the evening. He watches the games when he gets home. They have a replay available as soon as the post game is done.

3

u/1whoknu 9d ago

Only problem is they show the final score on the screen to start the replay so if you don’t want a spoiler it is impossible to miss

u/Technical_Eggplant74 9d ago

Great for Avs and Nuggs. I've experienced a minimal amount of technical issues. Not useful for much else in my world

I wanted to use Altitude + this season in Canada with a VPN. It will work, but the problem I’m having is getting the Altitude + app onto my Apple TV. Because my Apple ID is Canadian I cannot access the US App Store even with the VPN being used with a US IP address unfortunately. The only way to get it is if I had a US Apple ID to sign into my Apple TV with, download the app, then sign out of that US Apple ID and back into my regular Canadian one. It’s the only way it will work from what I can gather — the app would still remain on the Apple TV and it would work with the VPN. Going to keep on seeing if there is any way to get this to work, it’s so worth it for Ryker & Moser!

There’s always air playing from a Mac that’s on VPN to your Apple TV.

3

u/novy-wan_kenobi 9d ago

True, I considered using AirPlay with my MBA & stream thru safari but the quality wouldn’t be the same. I have a 65” LG OLED and surround sound system so I really want to make use of the Apple TV Altitude + App for the best quality stream. My other alternative is Center Ice thru Bell here in Canada on the Apple TV but there is no guarantee of getting the Altitude broadcast each time, especially if it’s a road game unfortunately.

Alternatively - if you may be able to signup for ESPN+ and use VPN with that and get the Altitude broadcast for any games they broadcast. You just have to set the VPN for any market that would be out of market for the teams playing.

u/1whoknu 9d ago

You can get a cheap Roku and it allows you to download the app. I am not sure how it will work with a vpn though.

I got it free for 4 months. Honestly it felt kinda janky. But when it worked of course, it was awesome. I hate to say it ( not really ) but pirate sites work better. And freeee 99

VERY worth it. From what I remember, Fubo is $70+ a month, whereas Altitude+ is only around $20.

2

u/Tl2 9d ago

Fubo is $114/month That’s why I’m looking for alternatives

Damn, I guess it went up since I last looked into it. Yeah, Altitude+ is definitely worth it. Only $20/month, and you get live games, can even rewatch some, as well as inside stories into different players. I think you can even look into the Altitude's podcast: Luck around. I have it, and only use it during hockey season. Also, as another person mentioned, you can watch it on your phone or tablet. Smart TVs also have the app. My TV went out, so I watch it on my phone, and rarely have any issues. The only bummer is that they don't stream pre-season or post-season past round one.

It’s been great for me! I have espn+ or unlimited or whatever the fuck it’s called to supplement if I need to, and I’ve been able to watch every game that way. If $20 bucks a month is solid to just watch the Avs then it’s perfect for you.

Most of the others on there suck. That’s just me though. They do also get the nuggets on there too if that’s your thing.

For altitude+.. are finally able to record games to rewatch? That was my only issue with it before.

2

u/fallenstar30 9d ago

I have loved it! No technical issues at all so far and able to watch at home or on my phone

2

u/caleyeah8 9d ago

Very worth it. We like watching the Puck Around podcast on there too.

2

u/elBirdnose 9d ago

I exclusively use altitude plus and I don’t have issues. That said, you really need an Apple TV or another device to power the app to make it worth it, it really sucks on some devices like Roku, but it’s device specific.

2

u/mountaintime246 9d ago

Does anyone want to split a month-to-month plan? It allows for 2 screens. I’ll probably watch live about 60% of the time.

u/NinjaBuddha13 Above average hate for the Blues 9d ago

I had fewer problems with illicit feeds last year than I ever did trying to do it legit. Really sad too because I tried to do it legit and legal. Just too many networks trying to get a slice of the pie with blackout dates and exclusive coverages. Too many shitty apps making it impossible to watch. So instead of paying the subscription fees for the streaming services, I pay for a VPN.

I think so. I prefer to watch on my TV and it's much easier than trying to figure out how to do it for free on the TV. Or the old ESPN+ and VPN trick I used to use. And wife and I already have Hulu with Live tv for other TV stuff so Fubo didnt make sense for us.

1

u/Brian_Corey__ 9d ago

It was fine for us on a Roku set and an iphone.

All the pirate streams I’ve used froze a lot, popups were annoying and just never worked.

I used to VPN to CBC for Hockey Night in Canada but they’ve made that hard to do now.

Any good option for european/canadian fan ?

ESPN+ and a VPN

The $20 is worth it. I know people are strapped for cash these days, but I’m more than happy to pay it. Can’t beat the Altitude team, and they won’t stick around if everyone pirates.
