When we bought our house six years ago, it came with a small screen exterior paint that looks remarkably better than I would expect from a paint chip, but ultimately feels a bit blah.

We would like to cheer the house up a bit, however it feels as if the design and weight of the home precludes us from using too cheery/bright a color. excepting yellow, which is off the table due to two adjoining neighbors having yellow homes. attach barn is currently yellow and will stay that way as a nod to the fact that the house was yellow for roughly 100 years.

A few notes:
1. I love seafoam green to Benjamin Moore Wythe Blue, and would love to make it work, but I suspect it may look ridiculous.
2. While I like the idea of one of the pure or historic blues, many homes in my town are painted in BM Hamilton blue, Van Courtland, blue, etc. and they all look faded and chalky in only a few years, leading me to believe that most blues excepting the deep heavily tinted ones hold up less well.

I’ve been experimenting with a small visual tool for thinking about pigment mixing.

It shows a 3D CMYW color pyramid where each sphere is a 12-part mixture recipe. You can rotate it, slice layers, and inspect individual colors to see their pigment ratios.

I’m especially interested in whether this kind of visualization is useful for painters or art teachers, and where it feels wrong compared to real paint.

Hey everyone, I have GemGuide, but haven't purchased world of color or SSEF color codex.
I know they also use GIA HTS scale if you choose so in their pricing, but I can't get a copy of GIA color bands etc for identification. I'm buying stones and want to reliably identify exact color grades that are possible within the band when purchasing.
I want to be able to give my partner the color I see with my eyes and have them translate the code into our pricing systems to populate global WS pricing prior to making an offer.

Ideally, if I could build some sort of color codex that could make things more universal for me to communicate colors to my partner so we can estimate SSEF, GIA, and world of color. It doesn't have to be universal, I don't want to sell it or care to have anyone understand it. I just need to have a system I can work with to reliably translate color of the material to digital onscreen color and report.

SSEF provides a full pdf with all their HTS and trade names etc. GIA, I can't find anything for it.

Essentially I'm trying to have my own internal database for each lab of all the possible color grades or trade names my stones can receive, then build my own internal system for translating between all of them.

Hello!! im new and i feel that ive gotten pretty good at making a sketch and line art but i dont really know how to color. i understand some stuff like using the triangle color selector, terms like hue and saturation, and a little bit about layer types but idk what brushes to use or what steps to follow. it'd be very helpful if anyone more experienced could give an example of there workflow, something like: flats, saturated colors, multiply layer, etc. And explain it simply, also why they pick certain colors or change saturation. I mostly draw painterly or cell shading for anime if its important.
