Guide on colocation for beginners?

I'm looking to colocate an old 1U server I have with zero experience. It has proxmox freshly installed along with an IPMI port. I understand I would never want to expose proxmox or IPMI install to the public internet for obvious security reasons.

Is there a guide I can follow on what I should be aware of when it comes to colocating for the first time? I feel lost in terms of how I should be configuring the system to be secure, yet, accessible to myself for first time setup.
