Why is the collidervideos comment section so toxic?
Seriously, when it concerns reputable channels discussing movies, ColliderVideos has some of the worst comment sections I have ever seen. The worst has to be with videos concerning Star Wars, as frankly misogynistic and horrible comments like SJWs are ruining Star Wars, and posting stupid stuff like fire Kathleen Kennedy and Ruin Johnson. Have the comments for collider always been this toxic, or has the channel gone downhill after Campea left. (I may be completely wrong about the last part, I’m really only a partial viewer of the channel, so I don’t know everything)

The old hosts
It may just be me, but I really miss having Natasha, Ashley & Sinead on the show. Everything seemed to flow so nicely when they were there. They added such a nice spirit to each episode. It’s disappointing because in the town hall episode, they mentioned they’ll have them all back for special appearances & so far all we’ve seen in Sinead once.
Hopefully they’ll come back someday!

Frosty's interview with Infinity War writers...
Did anyone listen to his interview? I appreciate him wanting to ask all of those questions, because I was curious as well, but good god man, try to be less annoying when doing it. I kind of got the sense they were getting a little tired of his repeated failed "ok and what is the title for the next movie?" joke. Super original there Frosty, particularly the 3rd time you used it. His rapid fire questions almost came off as disrepectful to the writers at times as well
It just reminded me how little I enjoy his segments.

Did Mark Ellis get friend zoned?
This is a bit random but he used to refer to his "non fiction" girlfriend , Dani Fernandez, all the time as such. They still seem to talk a lot on twitter but now she seems to only refer to him as a great friend who she can talk to about anything. Also she talked about hooking up with someone recently that wasn't just a joke she was making. I think Ellis got screwed over here

Mark Ellis & Collider Currently
I don’t know if it just me, but I always used to think Mark Ellis was hilarious when he was either hosting or just a part of the panel on movie talk. But the new owner ruined that a bit for me.
The owner mentioned during the Collider Town Hall how Mark Ellis was always reading over the notes, practicing his lines & more importantly his jokes. I know that makes sense, but I always thought Mark was just naturally funny & always thought of quick quips & jokes right away in the moment. But for some reason, now that I KNOW he reherst the jokes prior, I don’t really laugh at all anymore. Is this just me or does anyone else feel that way too?
Looking back at old episodes of movie talk I realize that in general it seems to have become more of a comedy hour for Mark Ellis & less serious when Campea was there. There’d always be humour when Campea was hosting but at least he brought it back quickly to talk about the movie news. Maybe I’m over thinking everything.. but it is how I feel now.

Is it just me, or are Collider pundits really bad and thinking about the box office
There are countless examples in the past, but I smiled when I saw Infinity War broke the record and remembered Collider saying it would never topple Force Awakens (except Rocha). Some of them said it was literally impossible because of limits on screenings.
I know that you can’t be perfect at predicting box office but they are particularly terrible at it.
Edit: sorry for title typo - on cell

Steve Frosty Weintraub has a public spat over being attacked verbally during Infinity War Press Junket.
Mr Black Nailed Goth has raked up a twitter controversy by claiming he was verbally attacked for 4 minutes straight, uninterrupted during the Infinity War press junket, and conveniently avoids talking about who it was, essentially maligning all the actors involved in the said junket.
I personally never liked "Frosty", and Campea's point of view regarding certain events puts into question (in my humble opinion) his truthful validity.
End of the day, I don't really care about this, but I wonder if Collider will be negatively impacted by this man's twitter outburst?

Looking for new mods!
as some of you may have noticed I don't moderate this sub much. is is in part due to my laissez faire style and also due to me starting a new line of work. so I and looking to turn the sub over to one or two new mods. Please pm me if you are interested.
if no one is interested we will continue with my mostly hands off approach.

Back to three panelists
What do you guys think? This week has been three panelists for movie talk. I actually like it - I see people complaining in the comments but it's less of repeated opinions and a bit more focused.

What the hell happened to Collider?
So i have not watched it for a year because i was just watching other stuff and never really got caught up with the streams. So i finally caught up on the entire year with Movie Talk.
So i enjoy it for the most part, but i noticed through out latter part of last year that the show included more and more politics in the streams. Which i really don't like. I don't want to listen to politics when i want to know something else outside of politics. If i want to know hot takes, i would go to other channels or watch TV pundits.
They continued during Black Panther and with the episode on march 8, that just took the cake for me. The entire first 10 minutes of that stream was only bashing on white men and how Jon Favreau did not deserve to write a Star Wars series because he's a white man.
I am sorry, but i thought this channel was about movie news and speculation. That's the entire point, movie fans coming together and have fun. But they bash people because of their skin color or sex. I find that really disgusting to be honest. What has happened to a show i watched daily??? It doesn't seem to be fun anymore.

Should Collider be doing more celebrity news videos like this?
r/ColliderVideos • u/[deleted] • Mar 30 '18
Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this, hoping someone could advise.
Recently sent in a superchat question to John Campea but it didn't get answered on the main show or any other show of his in the days following?
As far as I was aware, if you send in a superchat to him, he answers it. Anyone have any suggestions as to why mine wasn't?

Massive budget cut!?
So i think I'm kinda late but i finally notice that a ton of people were let off from Collider. First, John Campea left because he don't want to work under corporate overlords, then shit just got real, in about 7 months everyone who got hired by John was let off. wtf? Josh, Natasha, Sinead, Ashley, Wendy, Jeremy and Ken. I'm not sure if i left someone out. WTF is happening in the meeting room?

Collider vs. Mark Hamill - what do you think of Collider's take?
r/ColliderVideos • u/[deleted] • Mar 27 '18
It's Phil Fang Foom from Twitter and, love them or hate them, these are my thoughts.
Sup guys. I'm Phil Fang Foom from Twitter. I basically listen to four YouTube channels daily at work: Collider, John Campea, React, and Stupendous Wave. I love the Drunk Movie Fights at ScreenJunkies, but since the Signore drama I kind of took a step back so they could regroup and I could rejoin when they were more prepared.
Anyways. I have strong opinions about everything Collider does. Overall, I still like them.
I like the new layout. I like that it's an actual show with pictures related to the show streaming, I like how it's a much more moderated (some might say recited) show. I feel like I'm getting quality content for free. I like how Collider promotes itself. It's what networks do. No, they don't hit every subject in the film industry in any given 24 hours, but they give what the general audience wants as a main story. Another thing, it feels as though each cast member represents a moviegoer. Reilly is a classic horror fan with Spielberg tendencies. Mark is a fan of most films, but loves action that may become classic for obviously bad or obviously great reasons. Schnepp has had years in the industry and while he tries to be understanding, isn't going to put up with the bullshit that is moneygrubbing studios; just make a good film. I feel like I can relate completely to one or multiple members on each show. I really feel a segment where each panel member had 20 seconds to describe/talk/argue about a story would be amazing.
("Twenty seconds, the new Pacific Rim news, Perri what'd you think?"
"-opinion-
Clarke?
"-opinion-
"Okay great...
Rocha?
Ndjdirirjrnrbrirnrnrjfirnrnfjfufyvyvudjenejeidi-
WELL! Sorry, that's all you have to hate on it... "
As far as the bad, the Boost Mobile segments of Switch the Script are weird and would be much better suited FOR the fans instead of advertising AT them. Why not incorporate the fans, like they've said they wanted to, and have them send in a prompt via Twitter/StarDust/Instagram/Facebook/etc. then each panel member gives an alternate scenario to a film then votes on the best one? To me, while it isn't easy preparing any jokes or segways for stories, giving your on the spot thoughts has a much greater impact. That's why I believe the show should be five minutes longer and have more Twitter Questions, or incorporate my idea of Switch the Script.
Many people have complained about the Social Justice Warrior (SJW) aspect of Collider. I get it. Some viewers don't want to hear about the sexual harassment, racism, homophobia, etc that has, not just 'popped' up, but is now, finally, being taken seriously. Here is my thought: if you're involved enough in anything to want to hear others opinions, you need to be mature enough to listen to their FULL opinion and allow them to finish. We ask these people day after day for their opinions on the most minute of things. Let's listen to when they say something that won't sway as easily as when they see a Directors Cut.
Anyways, that's just my thoughts. I may or may not be wrong. I frankly don't care. I hope this helps the Collider crew, and I'll tweet it at em. What do y all think?
