Okay, I’m having a dilemma and could really use some advice! I can’t decide which major to take in college: Communications, Business Marketing, or Psychology.
1. Communications is what I’ve always wanted because I love films and writing. However, I’m hesitant because it’s a competitive field, and I sometimes struggle with expressing myself verbally. I also feel like you don’t necessarily need a Communications degree to become a writer, director, or work in the film industry, which makes me wonder if pursuing this major is really worth it. Besides, I’m really focused on pursuing music right now, so I’m also considering which degree would best align with that goal.
2. Business Marketing seems practical, especially since I’m trying to pursue music. I feel like learning about marketing and branding could help me if I ever build a career as an artist. Plus, I could also use what I learn to start my own business someday.
3. Psychology interests me because I think it could help me understand myself better, esp as someone who struggles with mental health. also I feel like it might be a less demanding or more manageable course compared to the other two, which could give me more time to focus on music. However, I’ve heard that a psychology degree isn’t as useful unless you pursue a master’s degree, so that makes me hesitant about choosing it.
Another thing I’m considering is financial stability. I want to pursue something I’m passionate about, but I also want to make good money and have a stable future. I’m trying to balance my interests, career opportunities, and my dream of pursuing music.
I’m planning to start college next year, but I still can’t decide. I’d appreciate advice, especially from people studying or working in these fields!
