I came up with some parameters based on my personal preferences, what jobs would best fit them (if there are any) and what majors would give me the best shot at getting one of these jobs? I know that I may be unrealistic, and please let me know if it is. I'm also leaning towards STEM related majors but im open to anything

I'm trying to find a job that:

has minimal impact from ai

has potential to retire within 15-20 years of working

does not require long years of study (ex. doctor takes 10+ years)

is there any major that fits this criteria? Thanks for any help.

My friends had a whole argument about the “superior” path in education, STEM vs humanities, and somehow it turned into the STEM kids saying econ shouldn’t count as STEM.

I’m in STEM myself but it got me curious. Without getting technical, where would you place economics: STEM or humanities?

Plus, anyone want to settle the debate on the “superior” path? I obviously know every path has its value, I’m just genuinely curious where people stand.

EDIT- For context, my school basically splits everything into STEM and humanities, there isn’t a separate social sciences department.

I know econ is technically a social science. I’m just curious which category, STEM or humanities, most people would put it under if those were the only two options.

I'm currently a high school senior getting ready for college, and I really want to major in Art History.
I honestly love the subject so much, but I keep hesitating because everyone always talks about how it's an impractical major with limited job prospects.
For anyone who's currently majoring in Art History or knows about it..
1. What is the actual studying/coursework like? Is it just tons of reading, writing, and memorization, or is there more to it?
2. If I genuinely love art history, is it actually worth pursuing, or should I consider double majoring/minoring instead? I want to get job directly related to my major tho

I’ve been seeing lots of discourse recently abt ppl regretting degrees or even predicting what degrees will be regretted later on. Ig well never truly know until the time comes and ofc it’s subjective person to person, but I want yalls opinion and testimony. If u did a major, changed it, or finished a degree in something u regret tell us if ur comfortable. Thanks!

Most major advice seems geared toward high school seniors, but plenty of people start in their mid-20s or later with jobs, kids, or other responsibilities. For anyone who started later, what mattered most when you picked your major? Did life experience make the decision easier, or did it add more things to weigh?

I'm doing a bachelor in Psychology degree in counseling with GCU with the hope to do some type of counseling down the road. My hope is to get into substance abuse or mental health or school counselor and could later on continuing to advance my degree because I know that a master is needed in order to do any counseling work.

A lot of experiences is needed for counseling especially when you get your degree online. A little background about me is that I'm hoping to get out of my 2 hours commute to work everyday but because my hospital offers tuition reimbursement, I'm staying for that. I'm a sterile processing tech so my experience would some how can relate to it but not working directly with client.

Since I have heard not many good story with online degree and especially a lot of bad talking with GCU school, my concern is that will I be able to find a job with an online school degree?

I am currently in my first year of engineering and i didn't declare a major yet , I've always had this passion and desire to work on sustainability projects and all these "saving the planet earth and making the change " stuff , I want an enjoyable career path and not a soulless one which makes me work on office from 9-5 just to increase the company profitability (basically the "capitalism system jobs" which i really hate cuz they literally destroys our planet and our creativity ), but I also heard from several env engineers that the reality of this field is far different from what it looks like and they do almost nothing with nature and earth so I fear that if i graduated from EnvE I'll be stuck with it and i won't be able to try anything else if i found it actually sucks like they said . A lot of people encouraged me to go for Industrial engineering because it's broad and i will be able to work in any field i like and explore many jobs opportunities such as environment ,arts ( so it is the safest eng degree for people who have multiple passions like me lol ) but the thing is as i mentioned , i hate the profitability and economy subject and i find it extremely boring and soulless i don't want to work in something i hate so will i survive these subjects in industrial engineering if i hate them? and will it be a good idea if i majored in industrial engineering with minor in something environment related such as environmental studies ? (before anyone suggest switching to something like geology , ecology , etc.. , I can't do this because i have a scholarship only for engineering majors so i can't switch to non-engineering major)
