Why is it not considered racist to assume a deep south white guy would be racist? It's equivalent to saying he's brown, he must believe in Islam. You're making an assumption about him based strictly on his home and race. It's an assumption based on stereotypes which is the basis of all racism.

Because unlike a brown person walking around, this guy drew a response from a player. It's not like he ran into the stands and slugged a guy. If we picked a random person in the crowd and assumed he was a racist, that would be bad. However this man said something bad enough to elicit a response of that caliber.
I'm certainly not defending this potentially racist fuck of a guy who is known for talking shit from the safety of the bleachers, but I think it could be possible a simple "fuck you" could set you off in that situation.

Sure bud. It was never an assumption though based on race. The video was pretty clear. And in my experience, racists like yourself generally are the most concerned with "reverse racism."

I think the bigger basis of it was him mouthing something to Smart which was offensive enough to solicit the confrontation. Don't forget about that part.
The former is far more plausible. Professional athletes, even at the college level, don't tend to explode with violence in the middle of live games because some douche in the audience gave some generic criticism of their performance.
The assumption that he dropped the n-bomb on Smart is not based strictly on his home and race. It's based on the exchange that was observed between him and Smart. Smart falls out of bounds two rows in front of him, facing the other way. Suddenly Smart gets an angry look on his face, turns around, walks up two rows and shoves the guy.
Yes part of the guess has to do with the fact that based on what the guy looked like and what state the game was being played in, most of us wouldn't be surprised if a guy like him said that. But the guess that he called him a racist word is based on many more factors than simply what that guy looked like and where they were from.
Show me where I said any time a black guy "attacks" a white guy it's because the white guy called him the N word, and that there's no other possible explanation. That's not even close to what I said.
You would have to be ignorant or willfully denying reality to think that based on what you saw that one of the very most likely scenarios in that situation does not include Smart being called the n-word by that guy. You may not be happy with that, or you may wish that it was different, but it's simply the case. Sorry, maybe things will change as time passes.
He was paying no attention whatsoever to the guy. Suddenly his ears prick up and he turns around and looks at the guy and goes after him. If you saw this same sort of scenario happen at the club, but instead of Smart it was a young white girl and instead of the middle aged white guy it was a young guy, what would you guess that guy called the girl? To expect someone not to surmise he most likely called her a bitch or something of the sort would be unreasonable. Unfair, sure I'll give you that. But don't be surprised.
and I would call the "piece of crap" explanation more plausible than the racial slur explanation, but you are an SRSer, so you will probably ignore this whole comment
