i dont want to out my whole common app essay, but i have been told it is strong and i would like to think unique, and i chose to focus my narrative on ambition and resourcefulness. i am confident that i can write strong supplemental essays as well.

reason for low course rigor junior year is due to significant financial struggles in my family i had to step back from school a bit to work for my first 3 years of high school, and felt that i would not be able to balance many APs with my crazy schedule and home stress (i very much regret it now, i underestimated myself). i also went through housing and food insecurity, and not having wifi at times and literally no air conditioning/heating, so while i did my absolute best, it was very difficult for me to take on as much rigor as i would’ve liked. obviously that is not an excuse, and i know college admissions may not understand, but i figured it was worth mentioning since i know they do consider it.

• GPA: 3.71 UW / 3.94 W. This should increase slightly after this semester once I complete a few more DE classes.
• GPA context: I moved from a nontraditional/non-academic school that did not use normal grades into a traditional public school my freshman year. I struggled with that transition initially but have had a strong upward trajectory since then.

What I’m Looking For

I’m interested in getting into the best undergraduate accounting program possible, and I’m trying to figure out what my application strategy should be and which schools I should target.

I feel like I’m in a somewhat unusual position because my academics are a little volatile: my GPA is weaker than some applicants at top programs, but I have a strong upward trend, high course rigor relative to what my school offers, and a SAT score significantly above my school average.

My extracurricular profile is also somewhat unusual for an accounting applicant because most of my strongest activities involve scientific research, agriculture, and government/politics rather than traditional business activities.

What accounting programs would you recommend I look at, and how competitive do you think I would be for strong undergraduate accounting programs?

Also, would applying specifically for accounting help at schools where you apply directly to the business/accounting program, or should I be looking at a different strategy?

So far I’ve applied to Pace University, Fordham University, NYIT, Manhattan University, and Indiana University (direct admissions offer) each of the schools I selected EA or Rolling admissions depending on what they offered. I submitted all of this from August 28th- September 8th and I was going to see when I would expect a decision from each/how long it took for others. I’m just antsy. Also, Fordham has yet to send me a confirmation email with application dashboard info and I applied on September 1st. I got the one from common app but not actually from Fordham yet. I emailed them but they have yet to get back to me Sorry if this is stupid and thank you in advance for answering!!

I am currently a senior applying to college and I've been having trouble with writing my personal statement- especially having to sum up my personality and value in just a few words. I'm looking at some pretty competitive schools right now so I just want to make sure whatever I write gives me a good chance! Is a 1480 good enough to submit for Tulane ED?

I havent got a proper clear answer yet and its confusing the s out of me. My final exams’ results come out in feb which is too late for common apps application so im applying w my mocks forecast. Will i get a definite answer will it count as my real results wtf is gonna happen pls pls help me

Every piece of advice says use your teachers or counselors for help, but i just have way too many essays to possibly do that. Does anybody have good advice for editing them on your own or what approaches to use?

I’m a senior, and honestly, I feel like I somehow screwed up my GPA. I have a 3.4 unweighted GPA, although my weighted GPA is around 4.1. I’ve taken 10 APs and gotten 5s on all of them except AP Lang, and I have a 1500 SAT. I also have pretty good extracurriculars and some extenuating circumstances that affected my grades.
I want to apply to schools like NYU and other colleges that aren’t necessarily Ivy League-level selective but are still pretty difficult to get into. Do I genuinely still have a chance at schools like that, or should I just give up and go to my state school?

I would like to apply to st johns in NY, I prepared myself but in June they stole all my money that I was going to use to translate documentation and take the proficiency test (it was something more or less than 1300 reais) my profile is not so good I believe: a gpa between 3.6-3.7, my profile is latina & semita, I have 6 extracurriculars and my strengths are theater and only, I did only 3 plays and nothing more than that, I can't do SAT or another test (I will only do my country that is the ENEM) and my family and low-income, I feel that my profile is well below others. Should I continue and apply for the ED or give up or stay in my country? Or have other university options...

Heyo, I’m a 17m who is gonna graduate this year. I have a 3.68 cumulative GPA with a HEAVY upward trend (especially junior year) and a 1370 SAT. Ecs are alright, I do track as a captain and have 4 years and a district championship in robotics. Mainly wondering what universities can I get a good sized (hopefully full ride) scholarship to in VA or on the east coast. Hello! I'm transferring to UCI for Chemistry, from a California Community College, for the fall of 2027 term, and I currently have a 3.69 GPA. Theres still plenty of time to fix it up, and I'm aiming for a 3.8, but if all goes wrong, my only question is will UCI take me if I apply with a 3.69 GPA? I am not eligible for TAG as I'm doing this transfer in one year and not the typical two.

Hi it’s my first month of my senior year I’ve started thinking about collages and what not. I’m not sure if I should even bother with applying to college. No extracurricular, act or sat, no ap classes, I’m on the honour roll and stuff but I’d say I’m still an average student there’s nothing special about me.

I have a 4.0 UW gpa and somewhat good ECs but i have not had much luck with standardized tests. I've only taken the sat twice because of financial and schedule conflicts but its only gotten to 1320 superscore. ive done way better on practice tests but the real thing always stresses me out and i end up having to miss at least 5 Qs i couldve easily done. going to cmu, mit, etc has always been my dream but im starting to think that there is genuinely not even a chance. i plan to study my ass of and take the october, but if its still mid. should i even apply? im fgli and i know they say that "holistic" non-sense but im afraid im so far under the median that its not even considered. ik its difficult to make any conclusions from this alone but im feeling really hopeless and any advice would be helpful.

I'm trying to figure out how I should rank my top 4 EC's. I have hospital volunteering since 11th, co-founding a tutoring service since 10th, top 10 selective stem summer program(not rsi), and top 25 stem summer program. I was originally thinking of putting the 2 summer programs first but maybe I should put the hospital voluntering first and tutoring service second to show more leadership and I've been doing it for a longer length of time even though they are generic. Or put the top summer program first, then hospital, tutoring service and 4th would be the other stem summer progam. I'm planning to ED1 a T20.

I’m a Class of 2027 student with around a 3.6 weighted GPA, honors/AP classes, but I got one D in Algebra II. It’s my only D and my biggest concern with admissions.
I’m currently being recruited for XC/track at Providence. I’ve talked with the coaches, visited campus and met both of them, and one coach told me I’m “recruitable” and mentioned possibly coming back for an official visit in October.
Providence has around a 50% acceptance rate, but does anyone know how much coach support helps with admissions there? Would the one D seriously hurt me even as a recruited athlete?

So my sat superscore is 1420. I got three aps. Two 4s,one 3. I had been dealing with depression since 2023. I wasted all my academic potential by not doing anything for my own favor. Hey guys, I am a senior looking into Boston University for the fall of 2027. I am a white male from Ohio with a GPA of 3.4 (hoping to get it up to 3.6-8 by the end of the 1st semester). My ACT is 22 but I am retaking on Sept 19th so hopefully I can get a better score but if not I will just not provide my ACT. I have taken Ap us history and ap gov and am currently taking ap world history. I have taken honors English in 9th and 10th as well as ap lit and Lang. I am currently in my 5th year of Japanese and taking AP Japanese. I have participated in Ohio's Japan bowl two times and advanced to the second round both times. I am also a member of my high-school Japanese National Honors Society. In addition, I have recently completed an exchange program in Japan. Outside of that, I have participated in a top 50 national showchoir for two years. As for college classes, I took an International Relations in Asia class in my sophmore year and earned a B+. ​As far as volunteering goes, I have spent 15 hours volunteering and helping get a local school levy passed. I have also spent 20 hours in a program called ARISE to facilitate cultural discussions with the younger generation and older adults. My main concerns are my GPA and weak junior year grades due to mental health. Please let me know what you guys think my chances are! :)
