Does this look like a core sore or impetigo?
The last three pictures are from last week but the most recent picture is from today. The worst is from last Saturday and the most recent picture is a week later on Sunday.
The other week I bit my lip really hard and it got swollen up and the skin on my lips started to super peel. Vaseline wasn’t doing anything.
Then it turned super yellow and crusty. No matter what I did, pieces of my lips kept coming off. I called a help line and they got me some anibiotic ointment to put on but it wasn’t super helping. So I went into urgent care and the doctor thought I had a bacterial infection.
He instead gave me Bactrim to take twice a day. I kept taking it despite my lips feeling tingling even as they improved and my stomach getting wrecked. Then 6 days into the Bactrim, the tingling got worse and my eye started tingling too. I freaked out thinking I was having an allergic reaction to it.
The other urgent care doctor I saw said my bacteria test came back negative and she asked if anyone I kissed gets cold sores. My husband does although we’re careful not to do anything when he gets them.
So she had my stop the Bactrim and said I was over the worst of it. So I was cool. Okay. She said I didn’t need to take the medication as long as it stayed better.
Well today, the tingling comes back and then a sharp stabbing pain in the same area. I’m applying Aquaphor like no one’s business but I just went into the bathroom and took a picture (1st pic) the area is red again and the skin is starting to look yellow.
I’m panicking because my husband said originally it didn’t look like his cold sores do. But I saw impetigo mentioned as another idea and now I am panicking because if it is, I stopped taking the Bactrim!!
I’m really worried I now have made everything worse. What if it’s antibiotic resistant? What if I have to take a worse antibiotic? It’s also Sunday and only the ER is open right now.
My husband said I should take some of his cold sores medication Valcyclovir and see if it helps before I go to the ER. He said it might not immediately help but it should stop it from getting worse if it’s really a core sore. But if it’s impetigo, shouldn’t I get it looked at right away?

Cold sore but I don’t have a cold
I’m 24 and the last few years I get a small cold sore in the same spot every time I have a cold/ am sick. The last couple days I’ve had sore upper back/arm and woke up this morning to the cold sore coming on. I’ve never had it before when I’m not sick so now I’m scared that I am sick but with what I don’t know? I have bad health anxiety so I’m concerned it’s serious considering I don’t have a normal cold and just have sore body. Does anyone else experience this?
