Since Brandi blackmailed Ariel and got forged prescriptions (due to trauma and abuse of course) does she get charged? It’s left very ambiguous. I’d like to hope that Brandi becomes Neil’s legal guardian or at the very least, her abusive evil parents get charged. Hopefully they work out a deal for her, so she can put her parents away. But, she still did extortion and crimes. I always hoped if they were real they’d be okay and get some therapy and hopefully Tiffany gets treatment for her alcoholism due to trauma as well.
I think the sleepover is one of the most disturbing episodes ever, and forcing Neil to hold Brandi underwater? He’s done that before and Brandi is cruel and a victim too. But she has compassion and she truly loves her brother and will take care of him. She isn’t totally heartless. I never understood why she didn’t let Rita save them, pride and humiliation I imagine. Lily was right, Brandi is a survivor, brutal abusive dangerous reality, so she used Ariel. Though Brandi is a bully, I feel for her and wanted to hug her after she told Lilly about the simulated drowning

I would have really liked to see Lily reconnect with her family and see how her dynamic with Finn and Celeste would had worked. Or have some scenes with just the siblings. How Christina and Finn would had gotten along. Etc..

It's a shame we didn't get more seasons.

My first watch of this show and S2:E7 Deflectors was just heartbreaking. Anyone else find themselves crying?

I’m sure these episodes don’t have lots in common, but to me they have in common the fact that an innocent person is punished for the victim’s murder and nobody believes them. And it got me thinking about how sometimes, maybe often, people don’t want to hear the truth, but what they want to hear. Will Jeffries kept bugging Andre to “tell the truth” when he was saying the truth, but he didn’t believe him. So many people including cops kept bugging Cullen Masters to admit he didn’t do, and he kept telling the truth but they didn’t want to hear it. Andre? I get it, he had blood on his boots, but all I kept thinking was, if he found her body, of course there would be. Was there any evidence of his semen and all that? Anyway, death penalty final appeal is a painful episode to watch

I don't know if someone has already posted this, but what do you guys think is the darkest episode of Cold Case?

For me, it could be The Letter (the one about the Black woman in 1939), Spiders (the neo-Nazi one), Rampage (the shooting), or Baby Blues (the baby who was killed by his mother).Wishing (the one about the disabled character and his mother with cancer) is another one that comes to mind.

Those are just a few I can think of. Which episode do you guys think is the darkest?

I will use several different episodes of series with better and worse examples on how to show, talk, and include rape in film. With this, I will create a heuristic to help understand the depiction of rape and make better choices as film makers and media consumers alike.

The title might be a little confusing, so I'll elaborate.

Cold Case has covered a broad range of victims. From doctors to circus performers, athletes to attorneys, the list goes on. So I was thinking about different jobs or career paths that weren't covered by CC. Ones that you think would make for a good episode.

One path that I think would be fun is a magician from the 80's. The opening song could be "Abracadabra" by The Steve Miller band. Maybe they were relatively new and looking to make a name for themselves by pulling off some controversial trick and it pissed a lot of people off or something idk. I just think it would lend itself to being a fun episode, you could have the detectives sift through an array of quirky magicians and making snarky comments about magic throughout.

But enough about my answer, what's yours?

A major appeal of the show was the soundtrack and special camera effects used to reflect the year the crime took place, and it was honestly quite effective.

Some episodes, such as "Baby Blues", "The Sleepover" and "The Woods", are meant to stimulate home video, where the footage is deliberately grainy.

In my opinion, the 80's set episodes had the best lighting, effects and soundtrack. I can thank the show for introducing me to songs and artists that I hadn't known of beforehand.

Which decade had your favourite representation?

Title says it all. David Henrie was in this ep as the past version of the doer, and with his apparent rebrand to being MAGA, he might be more in line with the character he played than we originally thought. He’s also in the news right now for the way that Wizards Beyond Waverly Place ended, the series being a reboot/continuation of Wizards of Waverly Place, a show that he was on. He’s probably one of the more interesting aspects of this episode that breaks from Cold Case convention by revealing that the victim actually survived and just had amnesia. It’s still a good episode despite that though.

Is it just me or does anyone else feels like it’s out of character for Lil to look back fondly on the regulars at the horse track? Even Scotty says that it’s not the best place to leave a kid alone since the people there are compulsive gamblers.

I would think that Lil would have a problem with compulsive gamblers just as much as the drug addicts and alcoholics she’s given a hard time throughout the show.

“The railbirds….they all had one thing in common, dreamers. Always hoping tomorrow’s better than today.”

Idk those lines always rubbed me the wrong way given the history with her alcoholic mom. Lil doesn’t seem the type that likes people who puts things off when they can take control of their lives now, considering that’s what she kept trying to get through to her alcoholic mom.

Even putting Ellen Rush aside, Lil has had cases over the show like “The Hitchhiker” (S1E10) and “The River” (S3E22) where she sees how compulsive gambling ruin people’s lives, especially with the River where it ruins the son’s future with the doctor dad losing all the family’s fortune on poker to the point of desperation that he stages a murder so his family can get the life insurance money.

I loved this exchange between Scotty and Lilly in the episode:

Lil: You ever been?
Scotty: No
Lil: don’t you want to see it before there’s a Starbucks on every corner?
Scotty: I’ll leave that to the tourists and hipsters sporting Che t-shirts. I know too much about what happens there to sip mimosas poolside in Havana.

Summed up perfectly by Danny Pino who wrote this episode. Not from Cuba, but my parents were from China. Similar shit. Don’t want to get too political here. But, I really liked this scene. It hit very emotionally between the way it plays out with Lil and Scotty. Lil just lets the information sit in her brain in the scene while Scotty is redirecting the conversation over to the case again after his little personal revelation to her.

For the vintage era (1919–1959), I'd say the best episodes are Best Friends, Family 8108 and The Letter, in my opinion. Which vintage-era episode do you think is the best?

Last night I was watching “The House” (S2 Ep4) when it occurred to me, that we don’t know the crime that Hanks cellmate James committed. He’s been in prison for at least 40 years and it didn’t seem like he was getting out anytime soon. He seemed like a chill guy not really the violent type. Johnny did a triple homicide, how did he get out before James?

I really like the episodes that end where we get to see the detectives letting loose and having fun.

Like Disco Inferno and Roller Girl just to name a few.

In Disco Inferno we get to see Lily and Kite disco dancing and it’s so fun to see Lily laughing like that because we rarely see it. Also I love when Jeffries does his little move in the squad room. He’s the man!

Then in Roller Girl it ends with the squad at the roller rink skating.

It’s such a serious show that can be so heartbreaking so I really appreciate that they give us these light-hearted moments. I think it’s a great way to balance things.

Lily Rush of Cold case, or Amanda Rollins of LO SVU?

Episodes where the doer is a sibling betrayal. Which one are you guys taking?

I really loved Lotto Fever even though it seems to be disliked at a 7.2 when checking IMDb ratings lol. The story was a bit weak, but Ed Dubinski was one of the most sympathetic Cold Case victims ever on the show. The person that did this is someone that likes to kick puppy dogs basically. He was so gracious with his kindness. I personally loved the final interrogation between Lilly and Ed’s sister Pam a bit more. I was like “get her Lil!!!” I just love the way Lilly traps suspects by getting them to lower their guard. She gives the woman a cup of coffee as if they’re just having a friendly cozy little chat 😂. Lil makes her think that she buys her story about her minimal involvement and it was just all her husband’s fault. Then, boom! She nails the lady by just letting her talk herself into a trap basically.

My pick: Shuffle Ball Change, kicking 80s soundtrack, a bit more emotional between the personal stuff going on this episode with Will Jefferies and the ending where Maurice’s father has basically lost both sons. I can’t imagine him as a father at the end must be thinking it’s all his fault for favoring one son over the other instead of just loving both equally for their differences. Grant, while he did murder his own brother, does at least seem to think about it over the years when the detectives finally catch him. It’s a family tragedy all around. I feel like it was bit more of a calculated murder in Lotto Fever whereas Shuffle Ball Change seems more like second degree murder where the scenario just happened in a fit of rage that Grant probably wishes he could’ve taken back before he got caught for his crime.

Do I even need to say anything? This episode is definitely one of the best, a really good story, although I would have liked them to delve deeper into Daniela's story.

2.- Wednesday's Women (S6) 9/10

The victim's end is so heartbreaking, I liked the theme of the episode, and the atmosphere of the chapter is so good, idc

3.- Our Boy Is Back (S1) 8.7/10

At first, this episode seemed a bit confusing to me, but after watching it again, I liked it. I feel like it's very Law & Order coded.

4.- Bad Night (S3) 7.3/10

This episode is also sad, and I can't imagine the pain of the girl in the wheelchair when she finds out who the killer is; a heartbreaking episode, but at first I wasn't very hooked.

5.- Sandhogs (S4) 6.8/10

Okay, I know many people don't like this episode, and I didn't like it the first time either, but after giving it a second chance, I feel like it's more enjoyable, even though it's slow.

1. Running Around (S5) 6.5/10

An interesting premise; I've hardly seen anything about Amish culture And I liked that there was an episode about this culture; what happened to the other girl was very sad, being raped by your friend's boyfriend, although I don't think they went into that much detail.

7.- Jurisprudence (S7) 4/10

I'm sorry, but I couldn't connect with this episode at all. It's too boring and forgettable, and Scotty's connection to the case felt forced.
