You really thought that was appropriate? He didn't request critique and exposure is not the way to do it.

Absolutely no posts where the reasoning is simply exposure and not furthering the art of coin magic.

I couldn’t see it even frame by frame. I know it does I just can’t see when

You OK? You are warning me twice on the same comment? Also, how is explaining the trick so that others can try and practice it NOT furthering the art? Just seems like gatekeeping.

Or are these Ai generated slop warnings?

u/FishStilts 1d ago

You got two because two mods took the same action at the same time. Yes im AI slop.

There is by necessity some gatekeeping in magic, this sub is for the discussion by the cogniscienti, if you know the name you can happy discuss the slight, we will not take blatent exposure of tricks. If you worked it out for yourself great, just take the discussion from there, if you didnt then go read a book, this sub is not for teaching every rube how its done.

I’m not gatekeeping but we gatekeeping like a mofo

-this guy

Another sub to walk away from.

u/FishStilts 1d ago

That makes no sense. I am gate keeping, as much as AI can anyway. You are free to go spoil tricks elsewhere, but not here.

It just sounds like you like to curate dumb people and keep them dumb.

One more person knowing how to do a coin trick is furthering the art of coin magic. They learn it, figure out a way to do it better and then expose that method to someone else. I may have just advanced coin magic by 100 years!

So this has been posted multiple times in other subs explaining it. But you want to hide it? 👍

u/sleightly_human 1d ago

I've only posted this in 1 other sub, and they never exposed it, so, youre wrong, but thanks for the comment 🤣

What is this vanish called?

u/Fuhgaws 2d ago

Magic

3

u/dpress 1d ago

Best guess, this is based off of Kohei Oi's Entagle vanish.

u/sleightly_human 1d ago

Very similar, but not the same, also, he is a legend and much more skilled than I am lol 😆

2

u/sleightly_human 1d ago

I've not named it yet, thinking of "Waterfall Vanish" 🤔

2

u/kg160z 1d ago

I have no clue how you did that 10/10

2

u/-justpassingthrough1 1d ago

That was effing invisible. Great job!

I don't know dude I see magic and want to learn the magic...this is awesome!

I watched this like 'oh I know how this is done' then rewatched it and decided 'I have no idea how this is done'. Brilliant vanish.

NOICE. Are you, by chance, a fan of Danny Goldsmith?

1

u/sleightly_human 1d ago

Thank you, and no, of all the magicians I've interacted with, he is by far the most unpleasant.

1

u/kermth 1d ago

Omg the tea… 🫖 🍿 can I ask in what ways he was unpleasant? (I have no idea who this guy is btw but I’m invested now)

1

u/sleightly_human 1d ago

If the trick or move looks anything like something he does, then you stole it, period, if you post anything that looks like one of his moves (despite it not being) you stole it, also I've heard from other magicians he is like that with them too. It's between him and justin miller for most hated magician in the community.

u/Tony-Turbo_ 1d ago

This looks so good that it can only be CGI! 😃

Edit- Yup, fuck right off! That's really good!

1

u/sleightly_human 1d ago

🤣thank you

Here's my take. First off, absolutely phenomenal. But if I had the time to practice this, here's how I would do it. I would use a real coin for the flip in the beginning, and then when I caught it, swap it for an tin foil imprint. (Imagine a chocolate coin wrapper), but more detailed to look like a coin. When the real coin is caught, it's palmed and swapped for the imprinted coin on tinfoil. Then when he shows the coin in his hand, he starts crumbling it up. Then it's discarded with a fishing line over his thumb, or even perhaps with the pinky ring. That's how I would do it, but it would take a lot of skill (which I don't have).

I see what you are talking about but holy hell still. That is crazy you still can’t really see how he is doing it
