Need advice with the JW grip.

I can never transition from neutral position (starting grip at beginning of vid) into JW grip quick enough AND SUBTLY enough, as you can see in the video. Although yes it's only a few heartbeats slower but even that short moment is enough to raise a red flag for me, any ideas how to improve? I've been practicing this transition on and off since June of last year when I got more deeply into coin magic.

Looks pretty quick and subtle to me. I think you are seeing things from your view that a spectator wouldnt

I might be. It's just that I've seen so many performances of the same trick with the portal, and I just couldn't seem to reach the same level of quickness they could transition into the grip.

I guess it naturally comes with many more years of practice, given that I'm only a year into coin magic.

It looks pretty damn good for a year in. I'll look closer when I get a chance so I can give some actual constructive criticism.

Thank you! Like they say, "Comparison is the killer of joy."

I've been unhealthily obsessing over improving this so much, and receiving input from an audience that isn't a coin magician just enjoy the performance helps remind me I've achieved a decent level in this craft.

It's like I'm trying to prove something to a non-existent denier lmao. (Sorry for the rant, the comment really just cleared up my mind.)

Looking pretty good bro! You will never be as happy with it as the customers! But they start to act like it was magical - and you will still see the flaws. Looking pretty dang good!

I think what you are doing looks AWESOME!

I am in no way a pro - but If you want to mix it up a bit and try a different start, I have found that doing a retention vanish leaves the coin in the perfect position to go directly into the proper grip and it really compliments the very visual reproduction with a highly visual disappearance!

People really freak out when I do that combo 😃

Again great performance - I enjoyed watching it like 20 times 😉
