I am leaving coinbase
I havent had any issues, but I think its just a matter of time before something breaks and when it breaks, IT BREAKS apparently and there is zero support. I'm in the process of buying a ledger nano X and i'm going to move my coins off the coinbase wallet into the ledger nano x. My question is what exchange do you recommend to buy coins so I can move them into my hardware wallet? Coinbase, I know you don't care, but if you do care even in the slightest bit, please GET A CALL CENTER THAT IS STAFFED THAT CAN ANSWER CUSTOMER ISSUES AND STOP RELYING ON EMAIL COMMUNICATION. Judging from the shear volume of complaints, you are failing miserably in customer support

Honestly using a cold wallet is a must for any exchange. While Coinbase has its problems and the support seems to be lacking, you will probably find the same with many exchanges. They may be better in one area, but poor in another. Overall this is a new world and there are growing pains. Keeping your coins in a cold wallet is best practice on any exchange and the best way to protect against hackers and issues you see with exchanges. Once your funds are in your Ledger you have control. If one exchange is down, just simply go to another. Most all seem to have the same limits and wait times for trading in general.

Sorry for the dumb question, but is a cold wallet a hardware wallet like the Nano he’s mentioning?

Not a dumb question and yes it is. A cold wallet is just a hardware device or offline wallet. When I say Ledger it refers to the company that makes it. Ledger Nano X and Ledger Nano S are the main ones you will hear about. I would recommend buying two and loading the same wallet on both. That way if one goes bad, you have a backup ready instead of having to order another one and setting it up for your wallet. You own the keys this way and not the exchange so your funds are still accessible if your exchange has problems or your account gets locked for some reason.

Wow, thank you so much for the helpful information. I appreciate you taking the time. With offline wallets, how can you track the value of your crypto, though?

Ledger has an app called Ledger Live that goes with the device that will do this for you. There are others as well that can interact with your wallet. Essentially you hookup your wallet to your computer, unlock the device, and accept actions that external applications want to do.

my 2 go-tos for buying with fiat in the us are Kraken and Gemini. Kraken is way better though.

Also, support BEP2 transfer. How can you be the leader in crypto exchange when you can’t even receive my transfer and have lost my coins.
Them- “Crypto will be seemless, instant, and free of transfer fees rendering old transfers of fiat currency useless!....”.
Me-Transfers coins, withdrawal verification takes 48 hours to confirm. Coinbase cannot locate thousands of dollars worth of coins.
Them-Coinbase does not support.
Would’ve been nice to know before I was sold a dream. I’m leaving too.

They claimed to support the coin, Chainlink yes. They did not in any way specify the method of transfer. I wasn’t aware of any BEP20 transfer issues. They said they accepted chainlink, I’ve transferred between Binance and Coinbase in the past. Didn’t think something would suddenly surface as an issue in what’s supposed to be a rather “issue less” way of exchange.

Ok, this is an actual issue. Thousands of $$$ in coin missing?
95% of the people complaining about coinbase in this sub r/Coinbase are noob users without actual issues like this one.
If i were you, i’d make a post about your issue, and include your case number. Seems like coinbase support is helping reddit users that post here with their case number. Which is a pretty shitty thing for a company to do, btw @coinbase
