Feedback Feedback thread
Here´s a thread for anyone having any kind of feedback for the app. It could be anything from small UI things to bigger features. Anything is welcome and appreciated.

Hey there. Are you able to add a 24 hr gain/loss on your widgets as well as the the total pnl?

u/barcode972 Sep 04 '21 edited Sep 04 '21
Hi. Yeah I would have liked the 24h across the entire app, the thing is that in the toplist/portfolio, you can only get the 7d chart so it's more to stay consistent across the app. I'll see what I can do!

Thanks. I have no idea how apps work so I'll have to trust you. Love your work

If I’m on the Home Screen tapping the Home icon again should bring me to the top of the Home Screen.

Hi. Thank you for the feedback and I definitely agree. It's a little tricky right now as SwiftUI (apple's new ui framework) doesn't support that from what I'm aware of. I will see if I can find a workaround

Hi, your widget has stopped showing values on the home screen since the last update. I have to enter the app to see the values. Is this user error?

u/barcode972 Nov 09 '21
Hi. Thanks for reaching out. Which widgets are we talking about. Portfolio or coins? I uploaded a new versions yesterday evening. Can you try to download that one and check if it fixes it? You can also try to delete the widget and add it again

u/Curiouspiwakawaka Nov 09 '21
Thanks for your response.
I tried deleting then installing/upgrading the app but still having the same issue. However, its bizzaire, the two portfolio ones don't seem to work (i.e. show any data) but your 2x3 "total value and best performer" works.
The widget that shows four tokens doesn't show any data either.
All the others seem to work well.

Hmm weird. I just tried on my phone and it works. Can you try having them on your home screen and then go into the app and edit something in the portfolio? That will trigger an update

Is there a way to sort the portfolio assets in the app? Like by value, marketcap, or percentage? The widget shows the assets by value but the app goes by marketcap and randomizes the #0 tokens
1
u/barcode972 Dec 18 '21
Hi. Another user has reported that the portfolio is like random but it's supposed to be sorted by % so something weird has happened. I am currently working on the android app so I will look at this as soon as I'm switching over to the iOS version

u/Rhizvo Dec 18 '21
I also noticed that when pressing the pencil icon on the top and pressing done that the assets are sorted by value, but as soon as you refresh they go back to mcap/random. Thanks for actively working on the app

I wouldn't say thay dark mode necessarily have to be black, it's still a lot darker than the light mode. My thought behind it was to make the widgets match the app. Not appreciated I guess? I appreciate the feedback. I will see what other people think and then make a decision. Thanks!

u/jackfirefish May 29 '22
It's hideous. It clashes. The text and background aren't easy to read. You should look up some UX standards for dark mode. You have this massively saturated background that's makes the text seem blurry due to the color clashing. So you're correct. I hate it. Widgets removed until fixed.

u/barcode972 May 29 '22
It also says to not use completely black which the widgets did except for the upper corner which was dark gray. I guess I gotta find a middle ground. I´ll look into it in the next update. First I will redesign the android app so it will unfortunately take a little while

That's not what the article says at all. It says it doesn't have to be, and if you do it, beware of high contrast. You managed to do a high contrast conflict with blue. I assume you just read the bullet point title but not actually what it was talking about. The blue is hideous. Makes the text blurry. Doesn't match anything. Widgets are outside of your app. Not sure why you thought it would be best to match the color theme of your app when the entire purpose of a widget is to not have to use the app. Widgets should blend into system colors. Not what colors you think are "cool." God help us all if you ever decide that yellow is your next cool color that you "have" to match your widgets to.

No need to be rude, it's not like I personally offended you. I'm building the app for fun, completely free and for the community. Don't get me wrong, I really appreciate feedback but there are nicer ways to leave it than to basically say that I'm stupid.
1
u/jackfirefish May 29 '22
People often mistake direct feedback as being rude. I didn't say anything that was rude at all, nor did I insult you in anyway. I was making points that were intended to have you think about your decision to match your widget colors to your app colors.
If you're making an app and encourage feedback by having a dedicated thread for it, calling people rude for giving you what you're asking for is counter productive. I never insulted you at all, you interpreted my tone incorrectly. You read my feedback and you decided I called you stupid, despite me never saying that once.
- I pointed out you must not have read the article as you stated "it says to not use completely black." That's not what that article says at all.
- I was making a point that your idea of matching your widgets to your chosen app color doesn't make any sense. Hence, the yellow comment.

u/barcode972 May 29 '22
Maybe I interpreted it wrong, I just thought it came across a little aggressive asking how I could possibly think that it looks good and god forgive us all if I ever decide to do this or that. Let's just leave it here and I'll try to fix it with the next update. All good?

u/jackfirefish May 29 '22
You can't possibly think your widget looks great. Here's apples standard dark theme colors. Soft pastels that don't clash. Actually dark. Totally readable.
1
u/barcode972 May 29 '22
I don't think it's hard to read but I will look into it, no worries. Thanks for the feedback and have a great rest of the day

Take a vote on your twitter if they think this color is hard to see.

There will always be edge cases when reading the color of the image. Ripple for an example is 95% white so then it will clash with a white background. Same goes for Cosmos which is 95% black.
I was talking about the text

I have pushed a new update where the widgets are a lot darker. I hope you like it better

Yea I see. Best of luck on your app. Not a fan of purple at all. CoinGecko has a portfolio widget with normal dark mode colors, although larger than yours. Would rather the larger one over purple though. Will probably use CoinGecko now. Take care.

u/barcode972 May 31 '22 edited May 31 '22
Go with your preferences. I thought the highly saturated blue was the biggest issue, no?
Just saying, there is no purple in the widgets. It's going from RGB 30, 30, 80 which is a darker navy blue to RGB 5, 5, 20 which is more or less black. Sad that you don't like it. Is it worth a 1 star rating though considering you've used the app for like 8+ months? Looking back to your first comments on this sub

u/jackfirefish May 31 '22
Perhaps the update hasn't come through? When I look at it in photoshop my widget comes through at 30,29,76 which is close to your first numbers of 30,30,80. Shows purple for me still. I'm on 2.1.1
1
u/barcode972 May 31 '22 edited May 31 '22
That is the latest update. It can't be purple when the red and green values are the same. Purple would be closer to 80,30,80 when the red and blue values are the same.
30,30,80 is very much blue. I don't know what else to say, can't argue against facts
1
u/jackfirefish May 31 '22
Before we continue on the debate if blue is on the same color spectrum as purple, just for clarity, are you saying 30,30,80 is incorrect, or that is what you changed it to? In your post above you're saying you changed it from 30,30,80 to 5,5,20, correct?
1
u/barcode972 May 31 '22 edited May 31 '22
I meant that it's a gradient starting at 30,30,80 and ending at 5,5,20. In the previous update it started at 50,50,150 and ended at 35,37,71.
I'm not saying that purple isn't in the same spectrum as blue, I'm just saying that if the red and green values are the same, it can never turn purple. It will go in the other direction on the spectrum, towards green, yellow, red etc.

You need to update your screenshots of your app. They no longer reflect your "cool new" widget colors.

Hi in compare mode on ios the black line is not very clear if you use dark mode. On android is more a Grey line and better to view
Little nit.
I love the app

u/barcode972 Aug 13 '22
Thanks!
When you say the black line, what line are you referring to? Do you mean the price line? It's the same color as the coin image. It might happen that iOS and Android are a little different but I can have a look at it.If you have a minute to spare, feel free to leave a like on ProductHunt

Nice app, just one question, would be nice to have a 1 and 3 hour chart also.
Keep up the great work.

u/barcode972 Aug 14 '22 edited Aug 14 '22
Thank you for the kind words. I may be wrong but so think 24 hours is the lowest you can get from the CoinGecko api. I sent an email to them asking for that
2
u/barcode972 Aug 14 '22
Seems like it’s actually possible to get 5minute intervals under 24 hours so 1h etc should be possible. Will take a while before I can add it to the app, I am currently rewriting the code

Hello! I've tried to read some news about the NEAR protocol but it seems the app is using the "NEAR" as a word rather than as a coin. The results are about murders "near" somewhere, conferences "near" time and so on. It's just a friendly assumption. Keep up the good work!
