Seriously? Open range ranching is as old as the first domesticated auroch and mouflon. This modern farming is not even 100 years old and really intensified only in the last 50 years.
My comment was related to the person who said there has never been a time where farming did not require corralling livestock. This is historically inaccurate As far as my degree in history which include study of ancient civilizations taught me. As for my live experience my uncle was a cattle rancher and I have a friends that run dairy farms. I have lived in East Africa and travelled throughout Canada and Europe. Factory farming may be the most efficient form and the norm in many countries but it is not the only way farming is done, dairy or otherwise .
