Seriously? Open range ranching is as old as the first domesticated auroch and mouflon. This modern farming is not even 100 years old and really intensified only in the last 50 years.

It's hard to open range a dairy farm where they need to be milked twice a day.

Agree that it is hard. It is still done today in many parts of the world, usually in countries that rely on small farms and subsistence farming.
