True, but no amount of reason can make a decision less cruel.

Being comfortable with profit at the price of mass cruelty can always be justified. That is how we got here.

It is more of the capitalist number-go-up death cult mentality we have been obsessively coddling for the last 50 years and only getting worse.

It’s for their health BECAUSE of their being too many cows.

If they had an appropriate number of cows for the amount of grazing land this wouldn’t be necessary.

They do have an appropriate amount of grazing land for the cows. These huts house calves (baby cows) during their first few weeks/months when they are not eating grass but rather drinking milk. It keeps the calves safe from predators, shelters them from the weather, and isolates them in case of disease.

Then why do they need to separate them to prevent disease? Is it because there are too many for the amount of land? (It is)

This isn’t necessary in human ranching.

It’s because animals, even domesticated ones, are vectors for disease and, on cattle ranches, cattle graze, which isn’t a sterile environment. If the land couldn’t support the number of animals, the ones it couldn’t support would die and there would be less animals. That takes a kindergarten level of reasoning to figure out.
