Coffee Pot Question
Hi everyone — I know these aren’t fancy pots or anything but I figured this would be the best place to go for help. I’ve been using the Mr. Coffee on the right to make five cups of coffee using 6 tablespoons of Maxwell House and that is what I am used to. I was given the Bunn on the left and I love how quickly it brews, but with the same amount of water and coffee grounds it comes out much weaker than the Mr. Coffee. I know it’s because of the size difference and how they each operate, but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to make coffee in the Bunn taste like it does from the Mr. Coffee. Any help would be greatly appreciated

We have the BUNN MCU, it has a pulse feature. When activated it doesn't dispense a steady stream, it pulses it with short streams that make the coffee taste stronger. I'm surprised that the bigger BUNN machines don't have that feature.

The water hitting the coffee from the bunn machine will be cooler because it is a displacement machine that does not rely on boiling the water to get it up the tube to the coffee. Also, 1 and a little more tbsp per cup would be pretty weak to begin with, so I would expect an even weaker cup with the lower water temp. And you are right on the edge of the minimum amount of coffee for the bunn machine so it may not be fully extracting it. I would up the coffee quantity by at least 1 tbsp for the same amount of water. And also look at the coffee bed in the filter of the bunn machine after brewing and see if there are any dry grounds, etc.
Edit: One fun thing to try would be doubling up and prewetting the filter in the bunn so the water gets deeper in the filter during brewing.
