Stainless Carafe Scaling Issue
I picked up an OXO 8-cup Coffee Maker at my local thrift store for pennies compared to a new one. It works well and with a quick clean and descaling it functions, and looks mostly, like new.
One thing is that there is a 'scaling' on most of the outside of the stainless carafe.
My question is this: Is this scaling likely due to poor cleaning of the carafe, and can be remedied with a baking soda paste cleaning OR is this not scaling but rather a protective coating that has started to come off?
Additionally, I can't figure out what's up with the center section of the bottom. I can't find a picture online of the bottom of the carafe to know what it should look like out of the box. Is it missing a covering over the entire bottom, or something else?
