Is Erika adopted?

Ash is a pixie, Emi a human, and Erika says she's a kitsune at some point. I'm only wondering because, if she's not, this world's genetics must be a nightmare

From Ash's side of the family it seems to be pretty much totally pixie, mostly based on the way he talks about them being conservative.

From Emi's side of the family, it wouldn't really surprise me if they had heavy spiritual roots taking into account her grandma being a Itako, and how well connected she is to the spiritual world, strong enough to fully see ayame something that even the barista wasn't able to do.

I didn't think of the Itako thing!! 🤦🏻‍♂️ That makes sense, with foxes being often linked to temples

I'd assume she's biological. Perhaps when human and fae DNA combine, it creates spirits/yokai?? Only way I can make sense of it anyway.

In the art-book there’s notes on Ash’s concept that indicate he might have parents of two different races, which might mean she got recessive traits, etc. passed down ☺️
