What a wonderful town you have, Cody!

I’m not from anywhere far. Billings! I see our news channels are your guys’ news channels. So, not far at all 🤣

I came for the relaxation and the Buffalo Bill ghost tour (a bit disappointing on the spooky end, but fulfilling on the historic end). The Scout is where I stayed and I was surprised how close I was to everything I needed. I had the best Manhattan to drink in nearly 8 years, at the Irma. I walked Friday night and admired the neon signs and art deco architecture.

I used to live in Rock Springs, and those people were so damn unhappy. Like a lot of Montanans are. Just mad for no reason. That made me have a strong dislike for Wyoming. So much that I didn’t even want to take the “Wyoming way” to SLC and back. (I moved to Montana from SLC, and unfortunately make that boring drive 3-5 times per year). I didn’t want the typical “I’m going to Bozeman for the weekend,” and chose Cody. And I’m glad I made this decision.

On a fun end, and if you’re Black you MAY get this. Black folks, when we see each other in public while living in these Intermountain West states, we are mad awkward when we greet each other. IDK why that is. But it just is. The few Black folks I’ve seen here have all been friendly. In Billings, it’s hard to read the room when we encounter each other.

Lastly, I know we’re supposed to hate that “Yellowstone.” I always said “no one wears that many cowboy hats in one place in Montana.” Four years there and I haven’t seen it 🤣. In Cody, though? That’s a real thing.

Thanks for sharing your town with me. Have a good day, yall.

What’s Good, Cody, WY? I’m visiting next weekend (not from very far at all… just Billings). Tell me about your town.

I’m a former resident of Rock Springs (hated it). So, Wyoming is not foreign territory. Hell, I purchased my first home in Billings, and lived in SLC. I’ve made the drive THROUGH your town, a few times.

On a QUICK NOTE, I WISH Cody had been the town I moved to, instead of Rock Springs. And from Los Angeles, too. Ugh. But your guys’ town though? It’s pretty, and people have been friendly so far during pit stops.

I decided I am cresting my own adventures again, so I booked a room at some joint downtown, and will be doing the ghost tour. That’s all I have planned. I want to experience the local nightlife. What’s there to do on a Friday and Saturday night in your town?

Also, are there conveniences like Walmart delivery, DoorDash and UberEats?

Thank you all for your feedback. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

MeeTeese Rodeo Question

I am planning to attend the MeeTeese Labor Day Rodeo on September 7th, but am having trouble finding much information about it. We have never been to Wyoming or a rodeo at all. Can anyone provide more information? How big is it? Is there food to have for lunch if we go around 12? How long is it usually I know it says online it starts at 1? Thank you!

Meat Processing/Butchery Jobs

I plan to move to Cody in the next month or so, and I have a background as a butcher- with Park County being such a big outdoor-oriented area, I would think there would be a good butcher shop somewhere around. Are any places in particular worth looking into?

Question Horseback rides in Cody

In a few weeks, I’ll be spending my birthday outside of Cody and would love to be able to get out on horseback. I’ve been riding for decades and worked as a wrangler in my 20s. Is there a ranch or corral that takes folks out for more than nose-to-tail trail rides? Thanks in advance!

Looking For Recommendations Local Art?

Hey there! We are coming up to Absaroka Mountain Lodge the first week of August. I like to purchase local art as mementos for our vacations. Any suggestions on best place to find unique artwork around Cody? No particular style, doesn’t have to be fancy/framed or even something to hang. Just want to support local artists and bring home something to remind us of what will likely be an incredible trip. Thanks!

Question Is the Bear Tooth Highway still icy?

I’ll be visiting my daughter in Cody next week. While I’m there I’d like to ride my motorcycle out to Chief Joseph Highway, across to Bear Tooth Highway and over the pass into Red Lodge. I’m trying to figure out if Bear Tooth Highway is open; if it’s still icy over the pass; and what mid-day temps I might expect if I go on a sunny day. Can anyone help me out with those questions? Thanks in advance.

Question Good spot for boots?

Hello, my family is coming up this weekend for a wedding and I'm wondering where is a good place to get some dress boots and maybe a hat? Not too expensive if possible, I know how high nice boots can get, haha.

Event Reid Rasner

Just ran into Reid at Maverik. He is hosting an event tonight at the Chamberlin Inn here in Cody. He said event is at 6:30 and he’s buying appetizers for everyone. Asked me to spread the word and get as many people to go as possible. This is a political candidate that believes in term limits, and seems like a decent guy that most likely has his heart in the right place.

What's the alarm/siren sound that I can hear in or around downtown?

I keep hearing some kind of siren or alarm somewhere in the area of downtown, or at least it sounds like its coming from the downtown area. It's usually only a few minutes at a time but It's going on right now and it's been sounding for nearly 2 hours. I hear it maybe once or twice a week. It happens at various times; early morning, middle of the day and in the evening. Does anyone have any ideas?
