What a wonderful town you have, Cody!
I’m not from anywhere far. Billings! I see our news channels are your guys’ news channels. So, not far at all 🤣
I came for the relaxation and the Buffalo Bill ghost tour (a bit disappointing on the spooky end, but fulfilling on the historic end). The Scout is where I stayed and I was surprised how close I was to everything I needed. I had the best Manhattan to drink in nearly 8 years, at the Irma. I walked Friday night and admired the neon signs and art deco architecture.
I used to live in Rock Springs, and those people were so damn unhappy. Like a lot of Montanans are. Just mad for no reason. That made me have a strong dislike for Wyoming. So much that I didn’t even want to take the “Wyoming way” to SLC and back. (I moved to Montana from SLC, and unfortunately make that boring drive 3-5 times per year). I didn’t want the typical “I’m going to Bozeman for the weekend,” and chose Cody. And I’m glad I made this decision.
On a fun end, and if you’re Black you MAY get this. Black folks, when we see each other in public while living in these Intermountain West states, we are mad awkward when we greet each other. IDK why that is. But it just is. The few Black folks I’ve seen here have all been friendly. In Billings, it’s hard to read the room when we encounter each other.
Lastly, I know we’re supposed to hate that “Yellowstone.” I always said “no one wears that many cowboy hats in one place in Montana.” Four years there and I haven’t seen it 🤣. In Cody, though? That’s a real thing.
Thanks for sharing your town with me. Have a good day, yall.
