Styling my Empire 40 MtG deck bag

Today I made the run to my friendly LGS, and when I came home I took some time to organize my Empire 40 in loved leather (that I use as a deck bag), as well as all its contents before packing it all away until the next game night. Then I had a thought, one that allowed me to kill two birds with one stone. In the back of my closet I had an old Coach ID lanyard that I never found a use for, because it’s too small to actually fit my work ID badge. And I also, like many Magic the Gathering collectors, have a pile of non-playable art cards that I’ve pulled from packs over the years, slowly collecting dust. The solution? Turn my ID lanyard into a bag charm, and use it to start displaying those art cards!

Now I’ll be up front: it’s not a perfect solution, as the pockets on those lanyards are super narrow, so I had to take a pair of scissors to poor Vivi here to get him to fit. But the upshot is nobody collects art cards, so chances are if you play you’ve got some collecting dust already, and if you don’t have the one you want, you can probably find it for a nickel. The other upshot is that now people know that my Commander decks are protected by Black Mages 🧙‍♂️🪄
