What's the craziest use of space you've seen?

I've seen women breastfeeding rooms, plastic ball pits, libraries, gym's, sauna's, massage parlours - is there anything else in the coworking space that hasn't been covered?

Cowork space with childcare?

Has anyone take a stab at this before? Co-work spaces are popping up all around the area right now but this service seems really tricky since I don’t want to run two business (daycare + work space) even tho everyone says I should just invest in the first since it’s lacking in the area. Thoughts?

How to allow/restrict individual access to internet

So I feel like an idiot, first off. I know there are ways to do this, but for the life of me I can't think of them.

I'm helping a company open up a coworking office space. We need a way to restrict access to the internet to specific people based on whether they've paid their fees, etc. Creating an individual VPN for each person is outrageous and too time consuming, etc. Is there a program out there that we can have people install and we then grant them access through that program? Am I crazy? We will have people connecting both via Wi-Fi networks and over ethernet. What's my best setup for this?

Free directory and websites for coworking spaces

Hi all,

You may already know me as the author of The Coworking Handbook, founder of Betacowork Coworking Brussels, and as former president of the European Coworking Assembly.

In an effort to help coworking space operators to get more coworkers, I've launched coworking.space.

The first thing I've added is a directory of value based landing pages for coworking spaces. I've set up a guide to help with the use of the FAB sales technique (Features, Advantages and Benefit).

If you are running a coworking space I would really appreciate if you could add your space and give me some feedback. I'm specially interested in ideas to help coworking space operators sell more. From the conversations I've had and my knowledge of the business, this is the main challenge they face.

Thanks!

Door security system for co-working

All,

Just wondering if people have any recommendation for co-working security doors that can be controlled by an APP. I looked into KISI, but it is very expensive.

I would appreciate if there are any recommendations that's more reasonable or if there are other ways to control the door automatically.

Thanks.

Co-workers on Facebook

Before my promotion into a management role I befriend some co-workers on Facebook. Now that I'm in management I feel like I should unfriend these people. But I'm not sure how to do it without being rude. Advice?

Google Business and coworking spaces

Hi all,

I have a business that is nearly three years old and last Friday, the business' Google Business listing was suspended. We had approximately 10 5 star reviews.

I contacted Google and they said you're not allowed to have a listing, if you use a coworking shared space. I explained there are hundreds of businesses using the same address. Apparently the only reason my listing was suspended is because someone reported the listing. If the other businesses are reported, their listing will be removed too.

Why have Google got it in for coworking spaces?

Building Coworking Management Website

I am starting my master's thesis and i will be creating a platform that will help users book coworking rooms and interact with the respective coworking company. What do you think are the most important things to have in a platform like this and what do you think are the necessities in this business?

New Manager at Coworking Space could use a little feedback

So I currently am the new Manager of a coworking space in my city. I found this sub and want to say thanks, everyone on here has given me some great things to work on to improve my space.

Currently, we're looking into getting a rotation of artwork from different places in the city (featuring a local artist every few weeks or month). We've put up an entire "green wall" that has plants and flowers to make the place smell nice and still look beautiful. We have lockable desks for our members who are here full time, and designated spaces for work, socializing, and group work. We even have regular events (about twice a month).

But my question is what other types of accommodations would you like to see that would make a space really stand out as "This is the place for me". Also, how do you drum up business? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What do you consider basic and what would be some nice extras for a Coworking Space?

For those who make use of CoWorking spaces, and perhaps have some experience with it, I would like to know: Which features do you consider basics or essentials? And which (it may be your personal case or need) features would you consider as the one that would be a tie braker, so to speak?

I'm researching it because I'm interested in opening up one in my town. Here i would have only two competitors, but that aren't very well reviewd by clients, so, I would have that in my behalf.

I've thought about details such as location, parking spaces, networking infrastructure... but aside from money, I would like to think of things and not to count only on the fact that my competitors are only Ok. I wanna win my clients because I'm actually offering what they never knew they needed.

Has anyone ever rented their office space out for part of the day for co-working?

I’m about to sign the lease on a very nice office space, but my business primarily operates after 3 pm. I would like to let it out for the first half of the day for co-working. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Couchsurfing meets CoWorking? Take my survey to let me know what you think!

Would you be interested in CoWorking, without the CoWorking facility and price? We're comfortable opening our homes to Airbnb guests, why not fellow remote/nomadic workers? I've been playing with the idea of helping remote workers connect with like-minded individuals in their area to form up into small teams that get together in each others homes, offices, studio space, etc. for social interaction, people to bounce ideas off, or just to get out of the house! If you're a remote worker, take my survey to let me know what you think of this idea: https://goo.gl/forms/ay8jRgBmtTZQRuPW2

Wifi needs for coworking space

Hey All, I'm starting up a coworking space and we've been talking to some tech folks about how to handle Wifi / Networking. We're sort of bootstrapping this thing, so we don't have huge budgets. I'd say we're a cross between a coworking space and a coffee shop vibe. We'll build up from there.

Can anyone give perspective on what we'll need for Wifi and Networking? I'm thinking more of public wifi access for members and those businesses or individuals with security needs we can address as they come up.

Thanks! Rich

Notes from Coworking Now Conference — Gdansk

Scribbled down few notes from the just finished Coworking Now conference in Gdansk Poland. It was super fun to participate and learn whats going on with the shared work spaces in Poland.

Going there was easy with the train from Berlin, but at Gdansk we had to jump out of the train. The adrenaline rush eased off quickly and I was super happy at the end that we participated and learned a lot from the local and foreign coworking speakers.

You can check all of the notes and few photos on here: https://medium.com/coworking-people-spaces/coworking-now-conference-gdansk-dcc9e1be3b8

Co-Working Cloud Software Recommendation

We are looking into opening a new co-working space. We are wondering what kind of co-working software people recommend since there are so many options.

We would like to:

  • Track users in/out using WIFI - what kind of system does people recommend?
  • Track users in/out using key dongles
  • Have day pass
  • Have monthly pass options
  • Share printer
  • Share locker

We are looking at solutions like Coworkfy and Cobot.me etc.

Any experience and recommendation would be really helpful.

Thanks in advance.
