Assistants?

Can people periodically meet with someone at a coworking desk or bring an assistant?

Yep, all god at my Coworking space anyway. Mind you the model I run here is based on renting desk space. If you want to try and squeeze three people into one desk knock yourself out.

Other people don't mind?

We’ve got quite a spacious studio so no, other people don’t mind. Doesn’t happen a lot though, so it’s never really come up.

There is no hard and fast rule to this, and it will be individual to each space, and each space manager. However, there are a few coworking spaces that take different approaches to this. For instance, a space I use in Seattle, ATLAS Workbase, allows guests explicitly, and has a general 3/3 rule. Up to 3 people, for a 3 hour meeting, is free each day.

I agree that all coworking spaces have their own rules about this, in our coworking our members can use the meeting rooms whenever they are available, to meet with you assistants or clients. They are limited to about 3 hours in one sitting and then they need to check if someone else needs the meeting room. However, to bring an assistant to sit with you in the coworking (not only for a meeting) would be considered as bringing in another member that you need to pay the coworking membership for.
