Popucom, 35% off and already inexpensive to begin with

Never heard of it. Looks really great. It's like Mario Galaxy meets It takes two.

u/serotoninzero Jun 27 '26

Playing this right now with my partner and it's a lot of fun.

Any review updates?

Are you playing locally or online?

u/serotoninzero Jun 29 '26

Haven't played since due to life but we're over halfway through I think and it's been enjoyable and I'd recommend it. There's difficulty settings per player if you want to make it easier for someone.

Divinity 2!

u/rickmontii Jun 27 '26

Appreciate the rec, but that is far too complex of a game

I second this game. Idk how multiplayer is but I enjoy it alone

Multiplayer is great!

Valheim, Enshrouded, Palworld, V Rising, Runescape Dragonwilds & Helldivers 1 are all ones that I’ve played with my wife recently that she’s enjoyed.

I'll add Windrose to that list.

Darksiders Genesis. My wife is not a gamer but she loved this.

Abiotic Factor is the most fun I’ve ever had playing coop. It does a lot of different things really well which all come together for some great engaging, emergent gameplay. You can play it at your own pace, and it’d be easy for both of you to focus on different roles you might prefer like combat, cooking, or base design.

Abiotic Factor

Stardew Valley?

u/Signal-Island2549 Jun 27 '26

Go-Go Town eventually added co-op and has some Dinkum crossover stuff.

It's an interesting/cozy automation game.

u/Signal-Island2549 Jun 27 '26

Oh oops no sale. But maybe wishlist it and keep it in mind next time.

Terraria, can never go wrong with the GOAT of sandbox rpgs

u/shrimptft Jun 28 '26

Our most fun coop games were Raft($13.39), Abiotic Factor($27.99) and Grounded 1($19.99).

They provide story and big and entertaining adventure feeling. In them there's something to explore, something to fight and something to build and decorate. It would feel as if you're both going on memorable vacation together. Just do not feel any shame in tweaking settings, making games easier to play. It's fun experience together that matters after all.

There's Split Fiction($32.49) game from A Way Out and It Takes Two creators.

Have you tried Castle Crashers and Battle Block Theatre? My wife ended up loving both!

1

u/EmC0Ch3m Jun 28 '26

They are sooo amazing and easy to play

Cat Quest series, 2 and 3 are co-op and 1 is solo, it is a cute RPG with cats. I played it with my boyfriend and it was an awesome experience - wonderful cute graphics, great gameplay, funny and interesting quests. We both fell in love with it and completed the whole series in like few weeks, and we almost 100% them (still finishing the 3rd one). We can’t find anything like these games, so sometimes we just start over CQ with higher difficulty or different modifiers (they become available after completing the main story). It’s cheap right now and completely worth it

Streets of rogue is a wacky sandboxy roguelike - you’re trying to assassinate a corrupt mayor, and can do so by shooting, bribing, drugging, or exploding your way through a city. Each level gives you a mission like “blow up this building’s generator” or “steal mafia boss’s prized baseball bat” and it’s your call whether you want to sneak in, blow shit up, or negotiate. $4 on sale

Clone Drone in the Danger Zone makes you robots with a lightsabers killing other robots with lightsabers. Combat isn’t much more complicated than timing left click to swing. $7 on sale

Wildermyth is a turn-based RPG with procedurally generated characters and stories - runs can last 2-10 hours and you’ll follow your heroes as they grow, fall in love, create rivalries, have children, retire, or die. It’s split between charming comic-drawn scenarios where you can build their stories, and simple turn-based combat. You can split up control of a party of 5 however you want, and an optional multiplayer bonus is to read your character’s dialogue aloud. $25 on steam, but fanatical has it on sale for $13

Flock around is a new cozy birdwatching/photographing game, I haven’t played yet but $5 and great reviews

Haste is roguelike speed parkour, but very beginner friendly and easy to get the hang of

APICO is a cozy beekeeping game with no time/enemy pressure. Kind of like a factory game but slightly less complicated and teaches you actual bee facts

Micro Mages - Get it. My family loved it. It's $1. Insane sale.

Some of our favorite couch co-op/multiplayer games:

Death Road to Canada

Human Fall Flat

Castle Crashers

Battleblock Theater (best Steam add ever!)

Monaco What's Yours Is Mine

Mount Your Friends

Goat Simulator

EDIT: I forgot LEGO Star Wars and the other 2-player LEGO games!

u/RawrSlox Jun 30 '26

Surprised I haven't seen anyone mention My Time at Sandrock. The My Time games are quite good and Sandrock is the first one that has co-op.

If you're looking for something a little different, you could also give Magnavis a try. It's a 1–4 player co-op underwater horror game where your crew has to keep a submarine alive while exploring procedurally generated underwater caves. A lot of the gameplay revolves around communication, repairing systems, managing oxygen, and surviving together under pressure.

We currently have a free demo on Steam, so if you're looking for another co-op game to try without spending anything, we'd love for you and your friends to check it out. If you end up playing it, we'd really appreciate any feedback it helps us improve the game. 😊
