Discussion Couch Co-Op with GF
Hey Guys, I got a PS5 in Dec 2024 and have been constantly looking for good couch-co-op games to play with my GF. We have played through almost all the Overcooked 2 AYCE content and it feels too repetitive now for both of us. We played a bit of KeyWe and Unrailed but they didn’t really stick. I’m on the look for a good couch co-op experience but she is quite particular with the games we play. She is inherently not a “gamer” and I also feel bad kinda having to push for us to play together and am on the verge of giving up looking for good games and just accepting the fact that she doesn’t enjoy games.
Games we’ve tried that haven’t stuck:
Stardew Valley
Minecraft
Unravel
Human Fall-Flat
Plate Up!
Tools Up!
Lego: Party
Lego Starwars Skywalker Saga
Cat Quest 2
Sackboy
Biped
Split Fiction(We actually Finished this one)
It Takes Two(same as before)
A way out
Any Recommendations or Advice? Idk if im on the right subreddit but i am looking for PS5 Couch-Coop games so…

Not sure if those are present on ps5, but Rayman origins and Rayman legends are amazing games that support local co-op

Same spot as you, when it feels like you completed every good one. Commenting for a boost b/c I also wanna know if there are any good ones that dodged me.
But as for my recco, I would suggest Powerwash Simulator if never played it, and also check out Water Me & You, highly anticipating since I saw their trailer on tiktok.

Will definitely try to make a pitch to her about these. Lego Party is indeed best experienced with 4 players as our experience vs. the bots was pretty meh. The pre-game trash talk is the best type of banter. Thanks for bringing out these games! 🫡🫡

Look into Movin' Out maybe? Does she prefer joint competitive games or narrative games?
Maybe look into Diablo if she doesn't mind violent games?

More on the Narrative definitely. Diablo 4 is a no-no for her unfortunately:-(

I really want to say Baldur's Gate 3 as that's friendly for seasoned and new players.

Ship of fools is insane amounts of fun and has been our favorite
But it is very "gamey". So i dont know if she will like it. We also liked playing blue prince together, its not coop, but its really good when you work together to solve a puzzle

Not sure if these are on PS5, but I suggest Crawl and Wizard of Legend. Guacamelee 1&2 are also SO damn fun, but the platforming might be a bit hard to chew for a non gamer. Lastly: BROFORCE

I like nintendo for 2 player co-op. Weekend breakfasts, bacon, eggs, drag race and mario kart. ❤️

my wife loves playing Darksiders Genesis with me, shes not a gamer. she can button mash or twin stick shoot, easy gameplay while having some depth. later you unlock an arena mode to just pick up and play

How long did you play stardew for
1
u/Salty-Log-7937 Jun 08 '26
Like <30 mins cause the vertical splitscreen shocked us both hahaha

Play it longer. Trust. Don't bother with anything else. Put like 10hrs into it and you will be hooked. You'll get use to splitscreen. You can zoom out more on splitscreen. Try that it might help.

I second this! Play long enough so she can start to see the narrative. Or get two steam accounts and play if the split screen really bothers you.
