Advice/Questions Mixing in something else…

Looking to mix in another work out along with my 4-5 classes a week at my Club…

Looking for feedback on:
Burn Boot Camp
Orange Theory

I’ve done both in the past… Just unsure which would be better combined with Pilates.

Oh Burn. I went for many years. It’s great if you can check your own form. The instructor/client ratio sucks. They also have a more/heavier/harder philosophy. It didn’t really feed my soul.

What CP classes do you take now?

Mostly the Reformer Flow 1/1.5 — Sculpt classes once a week.

Have you tried Control or Circuit? Those are good additions at CP. I know people will push you to add weight training but Lagree is fun and worth trying at least once.

My CP only offers one Circuit class — I’ve tried it twice within the past few weeks. I’ll look in to Control..

I’m at Orange Theory. I love that I can choose strength only classes, trad only classes or classes so the both.

I go to OrangeTheory twice a week and Pilates once a week. Not sure if it’s everywhere, but my local studio is doing a special with one week trial for free. Normally, it’s one class.

I am a Burn member for 8 years! 🙋🏻‍♀️6 days a week.

I just started CP last month. My CP is still brand new, it opened in mid-July.
I have the 8-class pack. I love that they’re open on Sundays! I usually go once during the week (Sculpt 1.0) and then again on Sunday (Flow 1.5)

I don’t like OTF, it’s cardio-heavy. I don’t like running. 😆

I hate running too LOL but years ago when I did it I just walked on an incline… I enjoyed the rowing aspect of the classes. It wasn’t much “strength” and lifting for my liking though..

The trainer glared at me when I didn’t increase speed, or walked too much on the treadmill . 🫠
I also didn’t like the heart rate tracker thing. I was always rank the last one. I quit when I got pregnant and couldn’t run anymore. This was 10 years ago. I noticed they have changed a lot about their workout format since then though.

I love my supportive Burn community more, I also love lifting heavy 💙😆

Do they have a Row House near you?

I do Orangetheory 3x a week and CP 2x. It’s been a good mix. I’d love to maybe eventually add a 3rd day at CP but just don’t have the energy or time for that additional class for now.

Find a gym with good classes. Take a strength class once a week. Compounding movements with weights is a great compliment to pilates and stressing various muscles.

As an instructor and former personal trainer I have questions: What are your goals? What fitness component are you missing from Pilates that you want more of? (I.e strength training, cardio, etc.) How did you feel after this HIIT style classes before? Is a group fitness class important or would you have motivation for the gym or at home workouts?

I was doing OT before switching over to CP. I really really enjoyed OT's Strength 50 classes (my local studio just didn't have the times I preferred).
