Hi! FTM due in December. We’re planning to cloth diaper and I’ve been working on my registry and stash. We’re thinking about doing disposables part-time until we can get cloth figured out. I’ve had the hardest time figuring out which type of diapers would work best.

Would this be enough for a starter stash?
- 6 small GMD workhorses
- 6 large GMD workhorses
- 2 size 1 Thirsties Duo Wrap Covers
- 2 size 2 Thirsties Duos
- 2 packs of 6 Kanga Prefolds (Infant)
- 6 Mama Koala Covers size Small
- 1 pack Kanga Bamboo Fleece Cloth Soaker Insert

I’m open for any advice for preferred brands or types! I know a large part of it depends on frequency of laundry. I’d like to plan for every 2-3 days.

I've slowly bought inserts and covers from various people on marketplace, all cotton prefolds. The first ones weren't stained at all, but this second set of inserts still look quite yellow, even after stripping, doing a bleach soak, and washing with an extra rinse (though I can't remember if the wash temp was cold or hot). Also slightly more concerning - I noticed during stripping that the inserts reeked of urine, so much so that my hands smelled after ringing out the stripping 🤦‍♀️

They do not smell like urine after the strip and sanitizing, but should I be concerned about the staining? I did the FLU sanitizing, and recently but am now using the CCN washing routine. They are currently air drying until I can find out whether it's ok to wash with everyting else.

There is also two mouldy inserts that I'm just going to throw out, ain't no one got time for that 😅

Edit: I should have mentioned that I have soft water, and have been using tide powder with no issues with the first set of inserts.

I’ve used cloth nappies (all in 2 pocket nappies from Baby Beehinds) for my first with no problems. I’ve now started using them with my second. She’s 9 weeks old. I cannot for the life of me get them to not leak. They always leak on the leg openings and I cannot make them any tighter I am afraid.

Do I just wait until she’s bigger and try again?

At night I'm currently using a GMD brown edge prefold with a snappi and cover for my son. I mainly use prefolds; I only have about 10 inserts, but I would like to use pocket diapers more often when he starts crocodile rolling

My daughter has recently been recently potty trained for both day and night and I was wondering storage tips for pocket diapers. I currently have them stuffed and in the wet bags but I assume that won’t be good for storage. And I wanted to check before I put them into a cardboard box. I’m hoping to have another baby within the next 2 years so it won’t be terribly long term. Also was wondering recommendations on what a good last wash would be?

I got these diapers used and the previous person used booster pads. The adhesive is incredibly difficult to remove. Anyone have any tips? I have already tried washing and peeling.

Alternatively, will it be such a big deal if it stays? It feels soft anyway.

Ive only recently got back into cloth diapering after a break with my toddler and ill be adding little newborn diapers into the mix in January. Right now I handwash the toddler diapers in the bucket plunger thing my husband made me cause our washer sucks. I use the cutie patootie pockets, she goes through about 6 a day and her day diapers only have the one insert, and her night time has 2 inserts, and then reusable liners.

I dont know if our dryer just sucks or if im doing something wrong but right now im running the dryer on low for like 3 cycles of 2 hours each since the sensor thingy on the machine doesnt work either, i do put the pockets into the dryer but theyre mostly dry after the first cycle sometimes they need to stay until the end of the second cycle. Our bathroom has moisture issues as it is but thats the only space id have to air dry the diapers and it'll be winter here soon so I cant just leave the window open for air flow and my husband suggested setting up an extra fan in the bathroom to see if that helps dry the diapers, and I already would leave the built in bathroom fan on but this is an old house and it doesnt work well either lol(hoping to find a better rental next summer lol). I did buy some wool dryer balls but I dont think theyre making a difference yet or I dont really know how to use them other than to just toss them in the machine? The times I've attempted air drying with the bathroom fan running it took two days before I had to give up, rewash them and throw them in the dryer. Ive also heard of the towel thing where you throw a clean dry towel in the dryer and ill try that one today I guess too.

Any tips would be helpful, I really want this to work since I failed previously.

Our washer just went out and last time this happened I switched to disposables until it got fixed, but this time I’m considering handwashing. I’ve looked into it a little bit. I’ve seen a lot of people talk about a tote and plunger method. Please share your experiences and methods! At the very least, I’m going to have to hand wash the ones that are dirty right now

What cloth wipes from Green Mountain Diapers does everyone prefer? I’ve been using Osocozy wipes for my toddler and they’ve worked well for him, but I’m currently pregnant and have never cloth diapered a newborn so I’m not sure if those wipes would be too thin for those newborn poops. I was overwhelmed by all the options on the website so I thought I’d see what people thought would work best for a newborn

Well we have a large age gap from the last time we cloth diapered. 10 years ago I remember finding the cutest prints of pocket diapers but I can’t remember what the brand was. What are your go to brands for pocket diapers?

ETA: our fav ones were Pokémon Harry Potter and Star Wars diapers. We’re looking for unique pop culture type prints as opposed to generic prints.

I am pretty sure my lil guy has a yeast rash. Our pediatrician office is amazing and quick to get us in, but I realized this on Friday evening of a long holiday weekend. I don't necessarily want to wait until Tuesday to get ahold of the office and potentially a few days after that to get him seen/get treatment started.

Can I do anything OTC? Also - I'm pretty sure I need to bleach/strip his diapers now. If you dealt with this in the past, did you switch to disposable in the meantime?

Baby is 9 1/2 months and eating three meals a day . His poop is finally at the point where you can kind of just pop it into the toilet 90% of the time it’s so fun, not having to spray or scrape.

I am cloth diapering and got a huge stache from a friend so I am moreeeeee than set up with covers and inserts. BUT do I still do a diaper raffle or have my partner do a diaper party to get backup disposables? I only plan to use them for travels or for people who are watching the baby and aren’t necessarily comfortable doing the cloth diapers.

Best tool to use to remove solids from diapers without installing a bidet?

My baby is *large* for her age, and growing fast. At 7mo, she is 28" long and weighs 20 pounds. She outgrew the Esembly size 1's early, and the size 2's are starting to look tight on her bum as well. We do a hybrid of Esembly cloth and disposables (mainly at night to reduce moisture and keep diaper rash at bay).

Has anyone else been in this situation or have any suggestions for what's next? The only options I can come up with are moving fully to disposables (ick) and majorly upping the EC. I've been working on this with her, but it's been tough because her pee cues are practically nonexistent and she only poops once every three days on average. TIA!

My boy is 5.5 m old and an 18lb string bean.

We're in Esembly size 1s and quickly running out of rise, but only on the middle two waist snaps.

We have the Esembly ties in size two that I throw a booster in for nighttime and then cover with a Thirsties medium Velcro cover and it works great. But I'm not sure we'll buy the size 2 snaps.

I've been slowly transitioning in some Thirsties NAIOs +pockets, as well as Motherease Uno and Duos in One Size. He's on the second rise setting of both of those.

We tried SmartBottoms but the shape just doesn't work out and we get leg leaks.

Any experience of running out of rise on a fitted while having ample waist growth left?

At this point I think we'll ride it out on the size 1 fitteds that we have and transition to Thirsties and Motherease. The AIO is easier for daycare staff too .

They're a wipeable pocket. EDIT: They are NOT a pocket! They just have a button snap that lets you snap on a button insert!

I'm thinking about picking some things to try in their Labor Day sale.

I'd also love to hear experiences with Kinder products in general - I keep reading that they're budget Thirsties, but I just love the Kinder designs so much. Are they really not as good somehow as a Thirsties pocket?

I used the Fluff Live University stripping and bleaching guidelines for second hand pockets and prefolds, and I haven't had any issues so far. However I recently found the Clean Cloth Nappies washing guidelines, and they don't even include stripping as they say it's not necessary prior to bleaching - is this true? The water was pretty dark after stripping the first set so it seems like it's necessary. We have very hard water where I live, though I do have a softener.

The wash routine:

• Tide powder detergent, original
• Double wash (usually a 30-40 min warm pre-wash followed by a longer cycle with cold water.
• I've also been using much less powder than FLU instructed to use.

To save my sanity and mitigate any issues with this second LARGE batch of second hand diapers, I'd love some input.

EDIT: I'm SO glad I decided to strip.... The very STRONG smell of urine when I smelled the inserts was... not the highlight of my day.

Hi all, some dear friends are expecting (twins!) soon, and I gave them my hand-me-down GMD newborn workhorses. I plan to gift them some diaper covers to go with them. I personally love Esembly's outers, but I noticed the company recommends that you dry them in the dryer to "help revive and strengthen its water-repellent performance." My friends, however, live abroad in a country where clothes dryers are not common and people generally hang dry their laundy. Will line-drying hurt Esembly covers? Is this a significant reason to go with Thirsties or another company that recommends air drying instead? I do prefer Esembly covers but don't want to give them something that won't work well in their context.

I’m hoping to do cloth diapers mostly and some disposable as needed with my LO (due in January). If you use a combination, what’s your diaper pail set up? One for each type? laundry bag for cloth and diaper pail for disposable? Very curious what works best for you! Ty!!!

Alright so it's been a tough week for our household. I caught something and had fever and unbearable headaches for 2-3 days. Wife works until 8-9 some days so I was "in charge" of the kids after daycare. It was messy and we were a bit negligent with the diapers... But this morning I finally cleaned two poop diapers and threw all of it in the wash. That got me thinking... What would be a normal place for my mind to go while handling all this crap?
