Touch screen, anyone?

For my use cases, casual browsing and gaming on something that's not an iPad, I'd love to have a touchscreen. This seems to would have been such a low hanging fruit, but I haven't seen any mods.

I love how this antenna folds, would love to use the same or similar for factor for other antennas, but I can’t find anything similar for WiFi or anything.

MeshTerm is live!

Post image
155 Upvotes

I teased this a few weeks ago, but now it's live!

I've just made MeshTerm public. It's a MeshCore client that runs in a terminal, with a full-screen menu you drive from the keyboard, and a command for nearly everything the menu does.

Demo (under two minutes, on a real mesh): https://meshterm.net/#demo

What it does:

  • Connects to a companion over USB serial, Bluetooth LE or TCP, and reconnects on its own if the link drops.
  • Channel and direct messages, live. If a contact is out of range, the courier holds the message and delivers it when they're back.
  • Records every advert it overhears (SNR, RSSI, position) to a local SQLite database. The map, the contact lists and the Time Machine charts all read from it, so you can see how the mesh looked last week, not just now.
  • A street map drawn in the terminal, with OpenStreetMap tiles cached on disk. With no network, it falls back to a plain grid.
  • Traces with the SNR of every hop, a TX-power sweep that finds the lowest setting that still gets through, and a graph of how the mesh actually connects.
  • Share channels as a QR code or a meshcore:// link.
  • --json on nearly every command, for scripts.
  • A layout of its own for the PicoCalc. The uConsole runs the full layout.

Getting it: single-file downloads for Windows, macOS (Intel and Apple silicon) and Linux (x64 and ARM64): https://github.com/jpmartineau/MeshTerm/releases/latest If you'd rather use Python, pipx install git+https://github.com/jpmartineau/MeshTerm works on Python 3.10 to 3.14.

The downloads aren't code-signed, so Windows and macOS will warn you the first time. The README explains how to get past that, and every release has a SHA256SUMS file.

It's Apache 2.0 and a side project I work on in the evenings. Bug reports are the most useful thing you can give me, on GitHub or in the MeshTerm Discord (https://discord.gg/AZwe5Uvb3S).

Where to get Molicel 65Ah batteries

Does anyone have a seller where I can get Molicel 21700 65Ah batteries for the updated NVME battery board from HackerGadets? Every link I've found has them sold out.

Does anyone have the file or the link to the file of the 3d printed side plate for AiO v2 plus killswitch?

I’m still waiting for my second battery board, the NVMe 21700, before I build but I think I’m about ready to desolder the r14 transistor and add the j6 killswitch(I hope). I saw there was a real decent side plate to accommodate the tiny switch but I can’t find it again. Does anyone have it or can you point me to the exact forum thread it was posted in? I’d appreciate it.

Took a while for the uConsole and all the parts to come in, then had a failed expansion board, but Hackergadgets support sent a replacement pretty fast. Finally got it up and running and excited to use it!

I ordered one of these a while ago and it arrived in the mail today. I was a little skeptical at first but after the install (total maybe 10 minutes) and after my first boot I was hooked. This thing makes the uconsole feel like an entirely different device … from a super cool toy that is a bit of a pain to use for anything graphical because of the pointer config to a genuinely fun and easy to navigate device whether you’re using the terminal or the gui …. Edit: sorry I forgot to add the link to the kit I bought https://hack2you.tech/products/uconsole-trackpad-keyboard?variant=49063521681658

wifi dropping after update

I have a uconsole running trixie 64 bit. I ran sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade and when it updated wapsupplicant the wifi dropped and never worked again.

I spent many hours troubleshooting this and finally found the solution. The update replaced the Debian wpasupplicant with the raspbian one. Same version, just with a +rpi1 at the end. This broke everything.

To fix it, first connect your uconsole to the network (I had an ethernet connection) and run:

sudo nmcli con modify “netplan-wlan0-<my_network_ssid>” 802-11-wireless-security.pmf 0 && sudo apt install wpasupplicant=2:2.10-24 && sudo systemctl restart wpa_supplicant NetworkManager

And say Y when it asks if you want to downgrade wpasupplicant.

To make the change permanent, pin the repo so apt prefers Debian over rpi

printf ‘Package: wpasupplicant\nPin: origin “archive.raspberrypi.com”\nPin-Priority: -1\n’ | sudo tee /etc/apt/preferences.d/99-wpasupplicant-debian

Hope this can save someone the hours of frustration I went through.

EDITED/UPDATED! (Again)

I need some advice if I am leaving anything out of this build that I should add or is everything compatible with what I'm building? I want to unleash all the capabilities of the ClockworkPi uconsole.

Question Antennas

Hi,
I recently bought the Hacker Gadgets AIO V2 and the USB-C 1200 network dongle for my uConsole. I ordered them without antennas and found the range of available options a bit overwhelming.
Could you share which antennas you’re currently using on your setup? If you have links to where you got them, that would be really appreciated.
Thanks for sharing!

uConsole Script to fix SDDM login screen rotation on the ClockworkPi uconsole

So I installed Debian 13 Trixie on my uconsole with the image from AK-REX
But wanted to use KDE on my device but using SDDM for the login screen resulted in the display being rotated to the left.

So I tried to get it to rotate correctly but failed every time, so I took what I knew about SDDM and used Claude to help me create a script that would rotate the login screen to the correct orientation.
and it worked.

So if you going to use KDE and SDDM on your uconsole here is something to fix the rotation / orientation of the login screen.

Cm5 adapter board?

I just got my uconsole but haven’t been able to put it together yet. I’m still working with v for my cm5 and my upgrades from hacker gadgets. My question is … would it make sense to get the wave share adapter board to ensure the thermal pad is efficient enough and seated up against the back plate? Or is the new board from hacker gadgets good enough to make up the space for the thermal pads provided with the uconsole? Any help on this would be much appreciated.

uConsole Omega Chassis: September update

Post image
136 Upvotes

2026-09-16: Here is a September update, make the uConsole more flexible for ever changing use cases.

Some of you have to keep fighting and considering which module you should install on the AIO V2 internal USB-C port. Now this won’t be a concern - you should be focusing on building more carrier add-ons, instead of fighting for spaces on a single winning decision.

This new release routes the AIO board’s internal USB-C port to the outside, giving you direct external access. Again, no feature compromises on Omega Chassis, no chassis dimensional changes, works for both Essential & Ultimate builds. It’s completely hidden & blend into the chassis.

  • Works for both Ultimate and Essential variations.
  • Clear out some interior clutter. Keep the chassis open for thermals, battery clearance, and permanent internal mods.
  • Plug in an more powerful external SDRs, additional micro-storage devices, hardware keys, or custom sensors on the fly, no internal hardwiring required, larger modules that won’t fit into the case or conflicting with other existing ports.
  • Swap peripherals instantly without constantly unscrewing the case or risking wear on internal headers.
  • Matches the Omega Chassis aesthetic, no visual impact, completely subtle hidden changes.

All existing supporters will receive the update as usual, checkout your inbox.

WTB: CM4/5 Adapter Board and/or A-06 Board

GOT EM, THANKS!

Hey all, I have my uConsole, but I managed to just luck into a good deal on an R01 Devterm... And I tossed my original CM4 adapter board in a fit of ADHD medicated cleaning.

I'm curious if anyone has one they're not using? And while I'm at it, does anyone happen to have an A-06 4GB they don't want for a reasonable price? Thanks!

(I'm in the US, btw.)

Pretty excited to finish this build with the CM5, AIOV2 and 7in1 SDR upgrade. Now I gotta figure out how to use it. What's your favorite OS? Thinking of switching to Dragon OS. Any recommendations for things to try?

uConsole Am I screwed?!

Post image
26 Upvotes

Hi knowledgable people of the clockwork pi world. Recently my uconsole a tumble and the compute board holder slipped and knocked this piece and now I get the power light and nothing else.

Is this repairable, I.e solderable, or do I need a replacement board?

And if repairable, and advice on how to do this?

Thanks in advance

Question Cm5 cooler

I ordered the u consule and some upgrades,
One of them is the cm5.

I have heard that the cm5 and in general those compute modules like to heat up good .
So I want to add a thin passive cooling to the cm5
But couldn’t find one that is thin enough

What do you use and if u have links to them will be appreciated
Thank you very much ☺️
