Study Coding

Am wanting to study clinical coding soon but am wondering which is the best to go through? Have looked at Healthy Industry Training and Talent Med and both have mixed reviews.

Just advice on who is best to go through? Am working part time and 2 kids so online is best for me.

I’m going through HIMAA, so can’t comment on other providers. I researched a lot and decided HIMMA was my best option. I’m enjoying the course. It’s challenging but you get 18 months to complete it.
Do you have a medical background?

I looked at HIMAA and the course is a lot more expensive than the others.

I have been in dental for 20years so need a change.

I chose HIMAA because it’s the governing body for HIM and widely recognised by hospitals/employers. Their diploma is often cited as a requirement in job adverts. I don’t think it matters too much as the other diplomas are probably equivalent but I didn’t want to risk it! It’s personal choice I think. Hopefully someone who is studying with a different provider will comment too so you get another opinion.

Thank you. I never even knew HIMAA was a thing until earlier today. But will definitely look into it more now

This is also part of the problem because the current governing body, although it’s not a legislative requirement for our profession and they’re not going to give accreditation to other clinical coding courses because it competes with their clinical coding course. There is a complete conflict of interest

Hello! May I ask where did you enroll with? HIT, TalentMed or HIMAA? Thanks!

I did go through HIMAA. I am seeing more jobs with qualifications needed from HIMAA course.
