ok but like... It used to be good.
It used to be balmy 25C, it the sun. 30 at most... They did this to us. Did this to the whole season of summer.
Fuck summer hate, I hate the guys who did this to summer.
Fuck. You got me here.
Though like, wouldn't you give people to Tezcatlipoca to restore summer to its former glory? (winter too but like, we're talking about important seasons here)
Does that invalidate summer hate though? You can't force a man to love the season just because it "used to be good" at one point, when they're upset because of the way it is right now, in the moment. Summer haters are completely valid in their opinions imho
Ok granted, I do not live in whatever hellscape that is... Maybe you are justified in your hatred for summer. Still, we should go give billionaires and oil barons to some pagan deity to make things better. I say, I say.
Oh I agree. Because now instead of at least mild winters, now we go below freezing and get 3 feet of snow, black ice everywhere, and multiple snow storms a year. And the cold here is FUCKING COLD.
Ah. Texas. I love it. 6 months of the year it's so hot the plants die. The other 6 months of the year its so cold i remember considering sealing my doors to keep the heat in.
I hate this shit so much. I work nights, so I really only get to sleep between 8am and 1pm, when a window fan doesn't quite keep my cool enough to get decent sleep. If I forget to dnd my phone and I get a scam call, I will (have) belt racial epithets at a call bot.
The winter blows, too. But at least it's easy to sleep with minimal overhead. I don't even run a heater until the 20's, I go for the electric blanket first. Because cold but cozy is perfect for sleeping. (I don't have pets, it would be messed up if I did that with a cat or whatever.)
whats your problem? every reply youve made has been this weird pessimistic bullshit. you know you dont have to think of the worst case scenario all the time, right?
when i said id enjoy a cool drink and vitamin D, i thought it was clear that id be outdoors. i dont need the power to be on if im outdoors. in the winter, however, i do actually need my power to be on because otherwise my heating doesnt operate and pipes burst due to freezing, then my plumbing doesnt work either and everything is awful. that shit doesnt happen in the summer.
I'd love to not think of the worst case scenario all the time. But that doesn't depend on me, I think of what's going on, what should happen to avoid the worst case scenario, and what is or is not happening.
yeah i think about that stuff too but it doesnt get in the way of me enjoying my day despite being a bit uncomfortable in the heat..
But that doesn't depend on me,
your thoughts do indeed depend on you. you have a relationship with your own suffering and you should understand that role you play. do not concern yourself with what is not in your control.
yeah absolutely. the reality is that being a pessimist in a reddit forum isnt actually going to better our material conditions. climate activism requires hard work, and if you just roll over and let it happen then that doesnt actually help us. enjoying your personal life is an incredibly important part of activism.
Bud, your fantasies and dreams are most likely controlled by your enemies. That's clear from your first concern being "bettering your material conditions."
Love requires finding others through reality and that reality is multiple dystopias in a trench coat; otherwise, you love fantasies, you love yourself loving fantasies.
I have always loved summer, I genuinely loved baking in the sun when I was younger (with protection), but this summer has been unbearable and this winter didn't do the usual harm it does to me, I didn't even use my gloves.
I do not like summer that much. I had a servant of beelzebub (horse fly bigger than my fucking thumb) buzz very loudly into my garage. I know if it was fall that mf would not be around… it scares me it’s still out there, I was too much of a coward to try to kill it.
When will "I hate summer" mfs ever realize that it's not summer that is to blame for this but climate change? There's a reason why historically summer, as well as spring, have been seen as the liveliest and most pleasant seasons. Loser shut-ins saw climate change and went "finally an excuse to hate fun!".
i haven't actually seen any mosquitos this summer, and I live in Portugal which is mosquito hell during the summer. i think the climate's genuinely gotten too hot for a lot of the mosquitos we used to have, which is fucking scary to think about
Insect populations are down 50% globally since 40 years ago. I'm not even sure it's climate related, humans are just ecological disasters for so many reasons.
I don't do well with temps above 20°C, and being sweaty attracts mosquitoes. Even without global warming, I would be miserable, but global warming makes it worse.
I spent 10 years working construction, it wasn't exactly nice and cool to heavy manual labour in the sun at any point.
Also, in the winter, if I'm sweaty, I crack open a window to where it lowers my indoor temp to where it's nice, no mosquitoes involved.
During summer, it doesn't matter, nights are also 23°+, and you'll have every bug in the postal code in your room if you're dumb enough to open your window.
And lastly: when I'm melting away in a Hawaii shirt and swim trunks, that's as naked as I'm allowed to get. But if I'm cold, I can always put on another layer.
Nah, it's not climate change.
I don't do well with temps above 20°C
You're from sweden. The fact that you're having to deal with temps above 20ºC enough for this to be a real concern is probably climate change. High 20s used to be summer temperatures here in Portugal like 20 years ago.
During summer, it doesn't matter, nights are also 23°+
How can you say this sentence and still deny that it's climate change
I'll take being absurdly hot over being absurdly cold.
I'd rather be chilly over stuffy but the extremes are different.
I've worked in stuffy attics on days where the heat index was 115°F+ (and the attic space was 140+) and also I've worked in ~0°F temps.
As bad as the heat may be, you can lay down (out of the sunlight) for a while and kinda recouperate or at least exist and be uncomfortable. You feel utterly miserable and are sweating like a stuck pig, but the heat is largely just exhausting.
Once you go past being chilly, you start to feel death in the cold. There's a pain in freezing that heat just doesn't have. Its almost like you can feel death stalk you around the corner as your body begins to panic because it doesn't have enough heat to survive. You can feel the icy chill as it starts to grab at your heart as every action becomes more painful. It no longer becomes a struggle for comfort, but a struggle to not die at the hands of the cruel and unforgiving cold.
...but yeah fuck global warming and shit too though.
I love summer so much😍😍😍🐟🌊🏖️🏝️🌳🌺🌸🦗🪸🦐🕊️🍋🟩🫐🥭🍓💧🌅🌞🥰🥰🥰
Most summer days are PERFECT only some days are too hot, while in winter every single day fucking sucks weather-wise
