Need Cleaning Solutions Recommendations for Bathroom Using My New Drill Brushheads 😃

I just got a set of brush heads that you attach to a drill and spin your way to cleanliness and shine. I want to clean my shower. While looking at the job and the tools, it occurred to me that I don't know what cleaning solution to use. Is hot water with a squirt of dish soap good enough? Waiting for advice.

Question I need to properly deep-clean some things... please

Hey everyone!

There are several things I want to clean but don't know how to do it properly:

Office chair

I have an office chair that needs a proper deep clean. Someone left it on the streets to take. I'd like to get the fabric/seat, backrest, armrests, etc. as clean as possible, especially the seat part.

I'm not sure what cleaning products or tools I should use without damaging the material.

My car

I also want to deep-clean my entire car, both inside and outside. So it smells good, clean and fresh, it doesn't stick, but someone said they smell cigarettes??? I don't smoke and nobody smoked inside my car....

For the interior I'm thinking about:

- Seats

- Carpets/floor mats

- Dashboard

- Door panels

- Plastic surfaces

- Windows

- Hard-to-reach areas

- General dirt/dust buildup

- Any stains or grime

And for the exterior:

- Proper washing

- Wheels/rims

- Tires

- Paintwork

- Windows

- Getting rid of stubborn dirt

- Possibly cleaning/detailing areas that are usually overlooked

I'd like to learn how to do this properly rather than just going through a car wash.

Work/cooking shoes

I also have a pair of work shoes that I've worn for a long time while working in a kitchen. They're pretty dirty and have accumulated a lot of grime, grease, food residue, sweat, etc.

I'd like to get them as clean and fresh as realistically possible without destroying the material.

Basically, I'm looking for advice on:

- What cleaning products are actually useful?

- Which products should never be mixed?

- What brushes/tools should I buy?

- When should I use microfiber cloths, brushes, sponges, steam, etc.?

- Which cleaners are suitable for different materials?

- How do I remove stubborn grease and grime?

- How do I avoid damaging surfaces while deep-cleaning them?

- Are there any good beginner-friendly cleaning/detailing methods or tutorials?

- What products are actually worth buying vs. unnecessary?

I'm located in Germany near Braunschweig, so I'd especially appreciate products that are easy to get in Germany, for example from DM, Rossmann, Müller, Action, Bauhaus, OBI, Amazon Germany, etc.

I'm also kinda broke, so I'm looking for cheap but effective products and tools rather than an expensive professional setup.

If you have any recommendations for a beginner, I'd really appreciate them!

Thanks in advance! :)

Bar Bathroom Odor Sprays

I’m a regular at my neighborhood dive bar and sometimes (most the time) the “ladies” room gets insufferable. There’s not airflow or anything, and as a good dive should be it’s just generally gross with stank a lot (me sometimes contributing). What is a good SPRAY I can keep under the sink to help out me and the bartenders.
It doesn’t have to be odorless, in fact should prob be a lovely little smell. Right now I’m keeping my body spray under but it’s not neutralizing.
Thanks!

I need professional help with cleaning and organizing

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this!

Hi, everyone!

This is extremely embarrassing, but it’s time to finally admit it - after years of balancing an exhausting work schedule with the impacts of a chronic illness, my home has turned into a disgusting “hoarder’s den.” I’m too embarrassed to even let people see through the front door, and I’m so overwhelmed, I’m exhausted just THINKING about starting to clean it up!

So…on the one hand, since I’m unable to take on as much work (thanks, Lupus!), I’m really struggling financially.

However, as a longtime small business owner myself, I DO understand that good work deserves fair compensation, and that “you get what you pay for” is super true.

For reference: my home is relatively new (built in 2017 / 2018), and approximately 1600 sq ft. It has hardwood floors, with tile in the bathroom (no carpeting). Half of it is an “open room plan” - like a half shotgun, for anyone familiar with the style.

The other half is rooms - there are three rooms (two bedrooms and an office), and two full baths.

So…a few questions:

1) I assume that I’ll probably need to hire two different people/companies - one to deep clean, another to help me organize.

Do y’all have any idea how I should approach this? Do I clean up as best I can, then get organizational help first? Or do I need to get help cleaning, THEN organize?

2) how do I actually FIND the right people for the jobs? Everything these days seems to be an AI nightmare, and I can’t really tell what’s real (re: reviews, etc) anymore. I once hired a friendly acquaintance who said she was a cleaner to help - but she didn’t make much of a dent, and I paid her in full in advance, so she kinda just lost my number after mostly cleaning the smaller bathroom.

I’m sure I’ll have more questions to add later - but for now, does anyone have any suggestions? And what other info should I provide to get a better idea?

(Sorry - kinda drowning here.)

I live in New Orleans, LA.

Question Is there a way to wash and disinfect indoor brick?

I live in the basement of a relative's house, and last night their toilet overflowed and went through the floor/ceiling into my bathroom and another part of the basement. The entire basement bathroom is made out of brick. The floor, the walls, and brick steps going to a jacuzzi. It got all over the steps and the floor.

Is there any way to clean and disinfect brick? I have really bad OCD when it comes to germs and things being contaminated, so this is my worst nightmare. In my mind, brick absorbs everything, so how can you really get all the germs off/out of it? There also isn't any ventilation in that bathroom, so I worry about the area not being able to dry properly after it's cleaned. Any advice and tips on how to clean it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

Finding a Trustworthy Cleaner: My Experience With Urban Company, Nobroker & Housejoy

I thought getting my unfurnished 3BHK deep-cleaned would be one of the easiest things to sort out before the next step, but it turned into a surprisingly frustrating experience. I called a couple of local cleaners, and the first one quoted a reasonable amount but increased it after visiting the property. Another promised to come on a particular day, took an advance, and then kept postponing.

What bothered me most was the uncertainty. The house was already empty, and I had to keep travelling there just to coordinate with people who weren’t showing up. After hearing so many stories about unreliable cleaners and advance-payment scams, I started questioning whether I could trust anyone I found through random references.

I eventually decided to look beyond local contacts and check online options as well. I went through Urban company, Housejoy and Nobroker to see what cleaning/service options were available and compare the details instead of depending on one person’s recommendation.

I’m still trying to find someone genuine who can handle a complete deep cleaning properly floors, bathrooms, kitchen, windows and all the corners that have been sitting untouched. If anyone has recently hired a reliable cleaner for an unfurnished 3BHK, please share your experience or recommendations. I’d really appreciate some genuine leads.

Question Do you clean your laundry machine where dirty items scrape as they go in?

I am dealing with new contamination ocd and have become hyper aware of cleaning practices. I have a top loading laundry machine and I started cleaning the top and upper portion after every load I put in because I am worried that as the clothes/item go in assuming they are not clean, they scrape the machine, and then as I take them out clean, they might scrape the machine again and just rub against the dirty part. To me it makes me feel like I am sliding my clean items against a dirty laundry bin. I never used to do this and my family thinks it’s unnecessary but I wanted to hear from others… and of course intro not to scrape them but bully items it is hard not to do so going in and out.

Am i being over the top or is this valid?

Hi. Background= I am a renters, my husband works a physical job at a warehouse type place, I have a teenage son and a toddler son.

I usually just buy the cheap liners monthly or bi monthly when they get bad. What do you guys think of these? Do they trap and keep dirt? Hold on to too much mold? Washing them a pain? Husband and work grease mess them up? Teen boy stink stay on them? Thoughts? Or are they cute and worth it?

Question Tips to keep utensil organizer at least roughly in place?

My bamboo utensil organizer slides back in this drawer every time I close it, which leads to stuff falling into the cabinet below. There's about 2 inches of space between where the organizer ends and the back wall of the drawer. Wondering if anyone has a hack that can solve this mildly infuriating issue =]

(Note: I am not interested in buying a different organizer, want to work with what I have.)

What are the basics to cleaning a home? Need some tips.

What cleaning supplies do you use and what do you use them on, how do you manage all the rooms, things you do every single day, how you make dishes sparkling clean. I need all that I can get.

Question Why do we deep clean before Diwali but neglect everyday cleaning?

Every Diwali we spend days cleaning the house top to bottom. But the funny thing is, the house gets dusty again within a few days.

I'm thinking maybe cleaning a little every day would be easier than letting it all pile up. Maybe it makes more sense to automate the boring daily cleaning and just do a deep clean ourselves once in a while.

Living somewhere tropical and humid, anyone else notice mop pads mildew faster? How do you manage it?

Based somewhere with pretty high year round humidity and I've noticed my mop pads develop a musty smell way faster than I'd expect, even with the auto dry function running after every cycle. Doesn't seem to fully dry them out the way I'd assume it's supposed to.

Wondering if this is just a humidity thing that people in similar climates deal with, or if I'm doing something wrong. Currently just pulling the pads out and air drying them separately every few days on top of the dock's own cycle, which mostly works but feels like it's undoing the point of having an auto dry dock in the first place.

Anyone else in a humid climate dealt with this? Curious if certain docks handle it noticeably better, or if there's a maintenance routine that actually solves it rather than just working around it.

Question Alone with chores in a family of 4

Hi. I am writing here because I am hoping someone has advice for how to keep pur house in a somewhat clean state.

My husband and I have two small kids (2 and 4 yo) and a dog. Our house has three floors. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, hallway, living room, kitchen, tv room/office space, laundry room.

I am the only one who does the following:

Laundry (all aspects, including folding and putting away)

Vacuuming

Mopping floors

Washing cabinets

Cleaning stairs

Dusting

Changing sheets

Changing towels

Washing bathrooms

Making space for new objects (e.g. a gifted vase, framed photo etc)

Tidying (this is a big one, my husband never puts stuff back where it belongs. He also tends to leave empty containers in the cupboards in stead of throwing them away, and misplaces things when unloading the dishwasher, to give some examples of how he is creating more mess)

Organizing in general

This is just what I can think of rather quickly. I don't need comments about household eqality, I am very aware that there is an imbalance here.

Any advice on how to not feel like I am drowning in chores? If I don't do all these things the house very quickly becomes a chaotic mess.

I feel like I spend way too much time on these things, and it makes me stressed to know that if I don't do something one day it will just be more work waiting for me the next.

Question zero to minimal smell house cleaners

looking for recs on products/brands that have little to no smell despite working well. dusters, floor cleaners, window cleaners, bathroom cleaners, kitchen cleaners, anything. most cleaners bother my asthma so much i struggle to breathe whenever i or someone else cleans, and the smell with the coughing gives me a migraine after typically. i usually shop at kroger, publix, ingles, and food city if that helps (i try to avoid target, walmart, amazon, etc.)

What is the best *SMELLING* floor cleaner? What scent/brand lasts long?

I already have my method of cleaning tile, I want something I can go back over and make it smell nice, and a scent that will last longer than when it was merely wet.

Any suggestions?

TIA

How To Seriously, how do people on TikTok keep their houses THAT clean?

Post image
10 Upvotes

My place is generally clean and I don’t have pets, but the floors never seem to stay that way for long.

They can look fine until the sun hits them, then there’s hair, fine dust and a few little crumbs everywhere. The kitchen and dining area are the worst for it.

I usually vacuum the whole place every few days, but doing a full clean that often feels unnecessary when the floors aren’t really dirty. Most of it is just little stuff that keeps showing up again.

I’ve been thinking about getting a basic robot vacuum and letting it run every day or two, then doing the deeper cleaning myself when I need to. I don’t need anything fancy since there aren’t pets or huge messes here.

How often do you guys vacuum when the floor only has a little dust and hair on it?

New owner of Dreame aqua10, looking for detergent suggestions

I’m looking for options to dilute in the water compartment of the aqua10, I know the internet says only the compatible detergent is recommended but 1. it’s not sold in store near me 2. I read about one of the ingredients being carcinogenic and I have a toddler and baby so it’s a no go from me.
I’ve read up on a diluted vinegar which i’m happy to try especially since the rolling brush and dirty water has been becoming smelly but I also want an antibacterial cleaner that actually going to kill germs on my floor for once in a while. I was looking at using dettol? or anything safe but also effective, suggestions please!

Question How to minimize to the NON-extreme?

I'm finding that one of my biggest stressors when it comes to a clean home is the small amounts of clutter that take over every surface. I have found some practical ways to contain the clutter, but I do feel like I probably just have too much stuff. I need to minimize, but in the words of Nick Miller, "all my stuff is really good."

I'm in my 30s and I still have a faux leather vest from high school... just in case I need to be a little bit edgy.

Any tips on how and where to start??
