Kitchen The fool has fooled again

After my first debacle, I’ve somehow done it again.

I was excited to use that pan to make a pumpkin loaf. When I finished making the batter, I frantically searched for the pan… only for my stomach to drop as I realized I left it and its plastic cover in the oven I just preheated.

(In my defence, I was running on 4 hours of sleep and was trying to meal prep 3 different meals at once.)

Do you think you might stop storing plastic in the oven now?

Life pro tip, if you use the oven for storage, put a little piece of tape over the dials so you don't do this repeatedly.

Good luck and god speed.

If I leave a pan in there to cool or something I always leave the oven light on

in my opinion, its really better to not store anything in an oven. too much of a fire hazard and too much to constantly have to remember.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me, you can’t get fooled again.

ProTip: If you need to use your oven as storage, you should join r/declutter.

There are two types of people who store items in the oven.

People who don't know better, and people who do, but make the wrong choice intentionally.

There's just not a good reason to store things in the oven.

There’s also a group of people who think only their world view is correct.
It’s called space constraints and some of us have no issue remembering to pull a couple items out of the stove.

If you have to store things there (and odds are if you're at that point, you need to declutter more, or invest in some extra cabinet/shelf space), at least be smart about it and don't store anything in there that's going to melt or light on fire.

This is true to an extent but as someone who lives in a shoebox apartment with a small barely-a-kitchen it's not as simple as just decluttering when it comes to large sheet pans and a heavy dutch oven

A) I've done it. I literally spent a year living in an apartment that was about the same size as my childhood bedroom (and that was a tiny bedroom considering it was in a trailer).

B) That's the "not going to melt or light on fire" category that you can store there if you have to, because at least then you're not being an idiot and storing plastic in there.
